Mrs. Star, the people find you guilty...

...of Awesomeness in the First Degree.

So Friday morning, Welsh Girl decided to go with me to Houston. This was a minor but welcome complication. I had planned to get out of Austin with the Despoina at some point during the morning. We didn't end up leaving until a little after noon. We usually drive 71 to I-10 but Welsh Girl had never been down 290 and since it was a lovely day, it was a great choice. The Despoina slept a lot of the way and the scenery was nice.

As always, the McClockys are a lot of fun to be with and the Dude seems to be quite taken with the Despoina. Mrs Star, of course, was the guest of honor. Luckily, we managed to keep her from consuming our child whole. Of course, we can't blame her for wanting to eat the Despoina. I'm sure if we could, we would hire her to be our full time nanny because not only is she awesome with the Despoina and full of the cleverest ideas for things to do with kids (Welsh Girl is still talking about circus school), she is also great to talk to and be around. Unfortunately, I don't think we could convince her to move to Tejas full time, but people can dream, right? Of course, I'm sorry I missed the Technician but I couldn't be there on Saturday. Well, I could but the Welsh Parents would have been sad and I probably would have messed up the musical vibe.

The trip back was a little rougher. Decided to take 1960 to 290, thinking that at night it wouldn't be as bad. Boy were we wrong. It took us an hour to get to 290. Once we got going in earnest, the Despoina, who fell asleep, woke back up with tooth pain, creating the need for more stops. We left their house at 10PM and didn't get home until 130AM. :( But we made it and that's what matters.

The Welsh Parents took the Despoina off my hands for the afternoon to a Hindu temple. I hear there were dancers and acrobats and a petting zoo and the whole shebang. I, instead, stayed home and painted minis. Didn't get much done because of errands to run and calls from directionally challenged people but I did a little and all that's required is that I keep doing a little over and over until it's done.

Sunday was full of Welsh Parents and friends crashing the house to see the Despoina. I was a little peopled out so I slipped away a couple times to recharge but a good time was had.

And now, here I am, back home in the middle of another week. And there it is...

How many times do I have to tell you? by StackyMcRacky (4.00 / 1) #1 Mon Apr 26, 2010 at 09:54:44 PM EST
DO NOT take 1960!!!!

Now, write it in a hole entry 100 times.

If you had been here on Saturday, you would have been thrown out like Dr. L and I were.

Finally, I think we just need to kidnap littlestar.  We'll have to bring her whole family, bit it would totally be worth it.

I dunno. CBB, in Texas? by wiredog (4.00 / 1) #5 Tue Apr 27, 2010 at 08:13:46 AM EST
He'd be deported in a week.

anyplace else and he'd stick out like a sore thumb.  if I can blend, so can he.

that's the thing with kidnapping by StackyMcRacky (2.00 / 0) #7 Tue Apr 27, 2010 at 10:18:44 AM EST
you don't get a choice, and you also have to behave....or face the consequences.

Canadians are allowed to live in Texas.  My high school BF was a displaced Canadian.

Well, by technician (4.00 / 2) #2 Mon Apr 26, 2010 at 09:56:47 PM EST
it would have been nice to have y'all there. Our nav system tried to take us down 1960...glad we ignored it. I always take 290, though. Damn fine drive on the way out. Mostly fine on the way back.

it was great to have you guys! by clock (2.00 / 0) #3 Mon Apr 26, 2010 at 10:15:49 PM EST
we really should get together more often.  we're working on making that easier as fast as we can, but your little family is pretty damned awesome.

and ditto to what Stacky said.  you were on to something with that compound idea.  hmmm...

I agree with clock entirely --Kellnerin

sucks the big one.
You guys are all making me feel very special. Thank you; it's very nice to feel special, it is meaningful to me.
I was SO happy to meet Welsh Girl, she is way too cool with her laid back ease and quiet sharp wit (and what a PRETTY lady!!). Of course I TOTALLY would have stolen that child away and squished her forever (or, lets face it, I would eat her), I easily understand why someone would want to portrait her. I am also for the compound, but again, wherity, wherity, wherity...
