So Friday morning, Welsh Girl decided to go with me to Houston. This was a minor but welcome complication. I had planned to get out of Austin with the Despoina at some point during the morning. We didn't end up leaving until a little after noon. We usually drive 71 to I-10 but Welsh Girl had never been down 290 and since it was a lovely day, it was a great choice. The Despoina slept a lot of the way and the scenery was nice.
As always, the McClockys are a lot of fun to be with and the Dude seems to be quite taken with the Despoina. Mrs Star, of course, was the guest of honor. Luckily, we managed to keep her from consuming our child whole. Of course, we can't blame her for wanting to eat the Despoina. I'm sure if we could, we would hire her to be our full time nanny because not only is she awesome with the Despoina and full of the cleverest ideas for things to do with kids (Welsh Girl is still talking about circus school), she is also great to talk to and be around. Unfortunately, I don't think we could convince her to move to Tejas full time, but people can dream, right? Of course, I'm sorry I missed the Technician but I couldn't be there on Saturday. Well, I could but the Welsh Parents would have been sad and I probably would have messed up the musical vibe.
The trip back was a little rougher. Decided to take 1960 to 290, thinking that at night it wouldn't be as bad. Boy were we wrong. It took us an hour to get to 290. Once we got going in earnest, the Despoina, who fell asleep, woke back up with tooth pain, creating the need for more stops. We left their house at 10PM and didn't get home until 130AM. :( But we made it and that's what matters.
The Welsh Parents took the Despoina off my hands for the afternoon to a Hindu temple. I hear there were dancers and acrobats and a petting zoo and the whole shebang. I, instead, stayed home and painted minis. Didn't get much done because of errands to run and calls from directionally challenged people but I did a little and all that's required is that I keep doing a little over and over until it's done.
Sunday was full of Welsh Parents and friends crashing the house to see the Despoina. I was a little peopled out so I slipped away a couple times to recharge but a good time was had.
And now, here I am, back home in the middle of another week. And there it is...
