A hailstorm.
Little else in terms of content.  Maybe.

Some storms moved through here, and they were dumping a lot of rain.  And then I heard pinging against the window and wow, a hail storm.  There is a crappy video ( the green is from the street light off the porch ) here  There are photos on my Facebook, they're of a slightly better quality.  But not by much.

This weekend was busy.  I slept in a little too long on Saturday, I really wished I hadn't because it was a nice day.  But I did get up and going, first thing was to put frozen bread dough in the warm oven.  Then I stepped outside and felt the warmth of the air on my skin and decided that I was skipping the gym and going out on the trail.  I left the bread in the oven ( turned off but warm ).

The trail was full of tourists.  One can tell they're tourists by two methods.  1) They're all coming down slope ( the outfitter drops them off at thigh end, and they coast to the end and then are shuttled back to their cars ) 2) They ride weird bikes.  Weird in the sense that either they're all the same color or have high handlebars.  Oh and 3)  There are always 3-20 of them in a group.  It is the 20 in a group that piss me off.  Those types couldn't ride single file if their lives depended on it.  Hell I'd not even mind if they road two wide.

They don't.  Even when they see bikes coming the opposite way they keep going 3 and 4 wide.  Hey they're tourists, they paid good money to coast down the hill and then get a bus ride back to their BMWs and Volvos.

Ridng up slope with these dolts is not so bad.  It's when I'm coming down slope, peddaling in that 8th slot on the back gears, and I think to myself that I could get into another gear if I had one, and I see a group of them just lollygagging along.  I slow.  I make myself known.  I get a break and go off to the left and there are people biking up slope and I have to either slow way down or pump my pedals like crazy.

Twice, I almost was run into by down sloping tourists.  I'm a big guy, that crash wouldn't have been pretty.  That being said I had a decent time biking for nearly 2 hours, to a point on the trail I had not ever gotten to previously.  As warm as it was, the river water has to be still a tad cool, yet there were rafters in the water.  Some were throwing buckets of water around.  In July that would be fun, but in April?

I baked a ham after I came home from the trail.  The bread dough was a little too high and I punched it down and got too antsy and baked it before it rose again.  It's okay tasting but too small.  I fail at bread baking again.  Last time the bread got dried out and crumbled when I cut it.  The ham, the ham was awesome.  I honey glazed it and baked it with onions, Baby Bella mushrooms, some red potatoes quartered, and some green beans, frozen.  I had way too much of it for supper.

Today I went to the gym, as it was rainy, and then to Wal-mart to pick up some containers to put the ham into for freezing.  That was a pretty successful trip.  I also picked up a toothbrush, which was almost a failure because the toothbrush aisle was swamped with people.  Odd.

I had a gain this morning on the scale, but that ham was so good last night.  Also I was starved after the bike ride and I ate more than I should have.

And that's the weekend I guess.

Small bread by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #1 Sun Apr 25, 2010 at 09:50:35 PM EST
me too today, though it was tasty. I don't know if the water was too hot, room temperature was too cold, I didn't knead enough, or I didn't give it enough time.

Still tasty though.

I've not yet done from scratch by dev trash (2.00 / 0) #2 Sun Apr 25, 2010 at 09:56:03 PM EST
I have 3 frozen loaves from the store left.
I have flour and water, just need to clear the counter space and not be so worried I'm gonna mess up and waste good flour.
