I made a few last year, I achieved a few, some others got put aside because of better things that came along. For those keeping score, these were the resolutions:
  1. I will not crush my enemies in 2009.
  2. Battle cosmic evil.
  3. Seek justice.
  4. I suppose I should acquire at least 10 more pounds.
  5. Get out of this crummy job into a real one.
  6. Eat more offal and pack my lunch more often.

I pretty much went through with the "not crushing enemies" bit. I didn't eat as much offal or pack as many lunches as I could have. I battled some cosmic evil and sought some justice. I certainly got those 10 pounds. I got distracted from my "escape terrible job" plan by the whole "meet a girl and marry her" thing, which is a decent trade-off, but not a permanent one: I have to get out somehow.

I don't really have many resolutions for this year, but there are a couple things that will happen in order to escape from the job:

  1. Taking another class this spring.
  2. Taking that exam this spring. For reals.
  3. Applying for jobs in the fall.
For a few reasons, it makes sense to stay here until the fall.

I also have some goals for the year:

  1. Olympic weightlifing total of 225kg. 250kg would be excellent and could be possible this year, but 225kg is the goal.
  2. Powerlifting total of 475kg. 500kg would be pretty good, but the goal is 475kg. That's probably too modest.
  3. If feasible, be at 110kg at the end of the year.
I will be pretty busy this year.

I'm a few pages away from finishing Emma.

I've been burning my wife's CD collection to my computer and reburning some of my own CDs where the mp3s, for some reason, are not currently adequate. I've also been fiddling with the library and such.

Aside from still being in this crappy job, I'm in a lot better place right now than I was last year.

Crap, we need to have the monthly budget meeting! Not tonight. Or tomorrow. Busy.

I need to set up an apptment with my adviser in order to register for classes. Drat. I'll send him a note. Fortunately, the office is just three blocks down the road, so it's fairly trivial to duck out.
