The sad sordid tale by wiredog (4.00 / 1) #1 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 01:43:33 PM EST
wherein Mr Goat moved to Texas and shacked up with Sara the Checkout Girl, who had also moved to Texas. Technician put the video up on YouTube.

and yet, I continue biting by infinitera (2.00 / 0) #22 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 05:38:27 PM EST
Quickly and artifically induced change is great because climate change happens on its own. I see. That's very novel, you should write a book.

It's not biting if I'm not trolling! by dmg (2.00 / 0) #25 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 05:58:32 PM EST
It's 'debating'...

I don't need to write a book as there are already plenty of books on this subject.

Basically, it doesn't really matter why the climate is changing, it's always happened for various reasons and man cannot stop it, the issue is how do we deal with it.
The climate will still change even if every car and truck is taken off the road and we all give up our central heating and air conditioning. So my point is, why the hell should I give up my car and central heating?
Call me selfish, but that's the way I see it.

If you want to give up trolling, stop with the adequacy linkification. Write a paragraph or more about each of your links, adding your opinion or some other interesting fact, some extra light for that story we wouldn't get just by following the link.

Just a suggestion.

Resolution still stands. by dmg (2.00 / 0) #21 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 05:30:35 PM EST
What happened to your resolution?

I see what you did there...

In the same way that disagreeing with the actions of the Zionist racists in Israel doesn't make one an anti-Semite, pointing out that this winter is not really all that cold in the grand scheme of things doesn't make one a climate denialist. But nice try.

if that were all, sure by infinitera (2.00 / 0) #23 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 05:43:43 PM EST
But the winter in Europe is one of a series of many more and more frequent extreme weather events, including droughts (see AU, most of the last decade - or ask Breaker!), hurricanes, floods. If it quacks like a denialist...

It's not really extreme though, it is? by dmg (2.00 / 0) #24 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 05:48:18 PM EST
It's just a bit cold. Not that you'd know it given the bbc's hysterical coverage, combined with the lazy British worker's penchant for a sickie...

The UK is dropping the pound by Driusan (4.00 / 7) #8 Mon Jan 11, 2010 at 02:10:08 PM EST
In favour of the euro. Blair called a snap election and was re-elected by a landslide, and those University of Angolia mails were proved to be faked by some economics professor.

Oh, and I don't know specifics on your house, but likely the interest rate on your mortgage went up by about 6-7 points points.

How was Au?

And very relaxing.  No internet, no work, just kicking back, spending time with the family and enjoying the satisfaction of not even knowing what day it was other than x days until I go home.

That sounds exactly like my holidays.  I spent them visiting family in Toronto for Jeebusmaas, counting the days until I could go home. Some days it was so hot it was even above 0. Preeetty damn tropical.

What didn't you miss? by technician (2.00 / 0) #30 Tue Jan 12, 2010 at 11:01:19 AM EST
I mean, it's a tough question. Just yesterday I was trying to sort ones from zeros on a hard drive, and glanced away for just a second...and wham, the whole thing stopped working. Just like that. One million ones and zeros just...gone. Frozen in time.

Unlike my hard drive which will require an electron scanning microscope and bunny suits, we can probably sum up what you've missed:

Not much. Same old. A little of this and a little of that.
