None of the weekends were rained out this year. Came close a couple times, but not quite. Friday was cloudy with occasional drizzle in the morning, but clear later. Surf was rough, with short period (high frequency), which made for a tough paddle out. Not very rideable. "Not very rideable" pretty much describes the surf all summer. One weekend (when a storm was going by) was good. Otherwise it was small, ugly, and shore break.
Saturday and Sunday were sunny, and warm but not hot. Came home Sunday night, so I missed the deluge on Monday.
Gonna miss the beach, but ready for Fall. Sort of.
Fall would be easier to accept if we'd had more Summer. June was cool and wet, July cool (for July) and dry. August had 2 or 3 weeks of really hot summery weather, but not enough for us to get really tired of it in that "I'm ready for Fall" kind of way. September is the payoff for lasting through August around here. One of the reasons Sept 11 of 2001 had such an effect on the East coast, I think, is the contrast with the glorious weather that day.
Out for a walk yesterday and saw that some of the leaves are starting to turn. Soon the North American Boobie will be putting on its winter clothing and hiding from view.
Fall is coming.
