Yesterday we went to the hospital, and someone new came into the world

Here is a photo of my daughter holding her new baby brother.  I'd say more, but the internet access at this hospital kind of sucks.  Anyway, mom and baby are both doing great, and we should be able to all go home on Thursday.

And so it begins again. I'll be watching this one closely since I'd like to know what it's like having a baby when you already have a small child...

Congrats!

I think it differs greatly by theboz (2.00 / 0) #2 Tue Sep 22, 2009 at 07:45:56 AM EST
A coworker kept telling me all the doom and gloom about how they will hate each other, but so far it's great.  When my daughter and mother in law left the hospital yesterday, my daughter was crying both for my wife and for the baby.  Yesterday she wanted to hold the baby the whole time she saw him, and kept trying to give him her toys and such.

So, at least on day one, it's going well.  However, I think it's probably different in each situation based on a lot of factors.

Are going to implode with the cuteness. And if I recall correctly there is more spawning going on.  (Also that little head bow? You do realize that is a level 10 cuteness attack and is probably not a fair thing to be throwing at your unmarried, childless internet brethren, right? We don't have defenses!!!)

Anyway, congratulations!

Cuteness attacks by theboz (2.00 / 0) #22 Thu Sep 24, 2009 at 06:38:45 AM EST
I guess I've built up a tolerance, partially from seeing her every day, and partially from dealing with her terrible twos.

As far as the unmarried, childless aspects are concerned, you don't have to actually have your own kids to enjoy them.  If you don't have nieces, nephews, or young cousins (I have a cousin slightly older than my daughter), or many other ways you can interact with children.  Even better if you don't have to wipe their butts or wake up with them at 3:00am.
