A while ago one of y'all kindly sent me a link to a site where sort of hideous 3-D CGA cartoon people spoke in Quebecois and there were French subtitles.

I think it must have been in the hole because I don't seem to be able to find the thread in my comments.

Anyway, what was that link? (Googling on "hideous 3-D CGA cartoon people spoke in Quebecois and there were French subtitles" produces weak results.)

It is a very demented and disturbing but oddly funny & addicting site. Any of y'all Brits, etc, who know French should check it out. You would not believe how they torture that poor language in Quebec.

Not really related to your diary content, but seemed a matter of professional interest.

It was a few years ago, you probably already heard.

I had seen that same story reference in another online community of which I'm a member. It's a mailing list started as a distraction in the technical publications group at Sun Microsystems in the late 1980's, and, believe it or not, the list is still pretty active, even though most of us have not worked at Sun, or even seen each other in the flesh, for decades.

The name of the list? "boringmail". All though most of us know it by its fancy French alias, "ennui".

Speaking of French, what's up with all the Quebecois who have failed to reply to this diary? I might just have to dust off my birth certificate or get a damn passport or something & make a trip up to the Great White North. Just to make sure everything's in order, you see what I'm say'n.

She has effectively checked out. She's an un-person of her own making. So it falls to me.--ad hoc (in the hole)

I have seen mailing lists like that. There was a great mailing list out of UQ computer science called eklectika. I dropped due to the volume in the end though. Can't claim to be a founder.

You should go and stick it to those arrogant and domestically animation ignorant Quebeckers, while hailing those animation aware Quebecquois. Go and quest.
