Judging by the way latest events are unfolding, it looks like maybe you should look for a suitable constituency and platform to stand for.....

Don't take too long.

Anger vote. by dmg (4.00 / 3) #3 Tue Jun 02, 2009 at 04:21:10 PM EST
I wonder what makes people angry?

Years of financial mismanagement by Bliar, Gormless Clown and the rest of his cronies?
The increasing assault on civil liberties?
The ludicrous waste of money on failed IT projects?
The fact that the EU accounts still haven't been audited after what is it 16 years? and we haven't had our promised referendum on the Constitutional treaty?
The pensions raid?
The shady dealings from "socialists" who are supposed to be above this sort of thing?
The seeming inability to get rid of slimy fuckers like Mandleson?

Oh yes, there is plenty to be angry about, I've just scratched the surface.
However, any angry person who belives "voting" or "democracy" hold the answers is sadly deluded.

I am feeling more and more nostaligic for the 'what you see is what you get' days of Thatcherism.

And everything you just said with names changed to Ameircan politicians applies on this side of the ocean as well.

Voting and democracy are the only solutions. by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #5 Tue Jun 02, 2009 at 09:29:36 PM EST
Or did you miss the collapse of the USSR?

The system needs a serious rethink (we should not have to vote for such a wide program of government, there should be a way to subdivide the executive and vote for smaller areas of government, lets say, defense, economy, education, etc.)

The inability of the harumphing right to compromise means there's now a tiny little political party for every seat.

That is democracy, comrade by Breaker (2.00 / 0) #9 Wed Jun 03, 2009 at 06:59:21 AM EST
I'm pretty disgusted with the whole Party system, no matter what the colour of the rosette.

Small, independant parties - that's what I'd like to see.

What will that achieve though? by nebbish (2.00 / 0) #10 Wed Jun 03, 2009 at 07:00:53 AM EST
It's all very well as a protest but I can't see how any actual policies will come out of it.

When it's important, there will be shifting alliances and agreements.

But I have faint memory of someone telling me that Jefferson tried to outlaw political parties when they were drawing up the US Constitution.

It must be bad for the sexchipmunk to hang up her troughing boots.

How much longer can the accursed one eyed son of the manse stay as PM?
