Finished work for this year.

Relaxing now. It's good. Slept in this morning. Done a bit of tidying up around the house. Played with the kids. Made a snowman.

Ah.

Feeling so good.

there was no year 0. by dev trash (4.00 / 1) #28 Wed Dec 23, 2009 at 08:18:12 PM EST
So 2001 was the start of the decade, therefore ten years on would be 2011.

That was part of the decade starting with 1991. The new millenium started Jan 1, 2001.

Planning any gaming? by marvin (4.00 / 1) #3 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 11:27:32 AM EST
While Facebook is evil, MMOs are not, right? I think it would be a blast to do some gaming with a party made up of Husi-ites.

Dungeons and Dragons online is now free to play, so that would mean anyone could join in with no barrier to entry (other than a few GB of downloading).

Let me know if you get a D&D game going. by muchagecko (4.00 / 1) #4 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 11:37:19 AM EST
I'll have time this break.

Are you on DDO already? If so, what server are you on?

I just started playing DDO in October, and only have low level (6 or 7) characters on a few different servers.

I think it will be pretty unlikely that everyone interested in playing would have characters of similar level on the same server (or any existing characters at all). It would probably be best to plan on best to start new characters, and blast through the intro content as a group.

So I haven't signed up anywhere.

But if you get a group of folks interested, I'm in.

Hussi guild anyone? by wumpus (4.00 / 1) #13 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 02:22:12 PM EST
I think I have a 7th level guy on Sarlona. Probably a couple of 6th levels on two other servers. Roughly 4th level everywhere else (free playing works a lot better if you get that per-server 100 favor).

Note that my control (and lack of headset) on my father's laptop might be an issue until after Christmas, I've been getting killed lately.

Wumpus

Any good combination of hulver, hussi, hussy, cows, cowboys for a guild name?

I think I'm on Argonesson, Thelanis, and Orien by marvin (4.00 / 1) #14 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 02:59:48 PM EST
I have two Level 3-7 characters on each of those, and two empty slots. What time zone are you in, and what times of day work best? I'm in GMT-8 (Pacific), and I think muchagecko is in GMT-6 or -7.

I bought 1500 Turbine points on the weekend, so I could buy a guild charter. No idea on cow guild names - "Escapees from the Hole"? Turbine points are on sale right now, as are guild charters. I realized that I would rather send Turbine $20 than grind players up on every server. I could run most of Korthos island in my sleep already, and would only do it again to guide a newbie through, or to level up a character I plan on running to level 20.

By "after Christmas", what date are you talking? I'm off work until Jan 4, so I'm pretty flexible. I'll try and post a story tonight on HuSi in the Whine Cellar soliciting other players, and try to sort out who plays what, on which server, and at what level we want to start play. I'll play almost any class to fill in a hole, although I mostly use my clerics or paladins, and find that barbarians don't interest me much.

[ Parent ]
I'm still Pacific too. by muchagecko (2.00 / 0) #19 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 06:38:33 PM EST

I'll check the cellar.

There's 24 hours in a day by marvin (4.00 / 1) #16 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 03:04:57 PM EST
Sleep is optional.

I hope that you have a nice Christmas with the family - that's the best part of the season for me, not the food, and certainly not the presents. Making a snowman must be a pretty big deal when you don't get snow like that very often, so your girls must have had a blast. Did you make snow angels too?

Snow angels by hulver (4.00 / 1) #23 Wed Dec 23, 2009 at 04:41:03 AM EST
Not a big thing over here, I've never seen anybody do it.

Besides, once the snowman had been made, there was no snow left on the ground. It had all been rolled up into the snow man :)

Which is unusual - at our elevation, the ground is typically white from early Dec through March. If you ever feel the need to learn how to make snow angels, I can hook you up with all the white stuff you want.

We should set up a husi gaming league. by mrgoat (4.00 / 2) #17 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 03:32:52 PM EST
Or just organize a diary or something. I'm sure there's a few other hussies who game.

See above by marvin (4.00 / 1) #18 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 03:43:02 PM EST
I can organize DDO. Biggest problem I see is getting enough people playing the same game at the same level (or similar level) at the same time.

I'd be delighted to dedicate a few character slots to a weekly game with a group from Husi - it would be way more fun than playing pick-up groups, and I think voice chat with a group of up to 6 Husi-ites would be a lot of fun.

That's what I was thinking - by mrgoat (2.00 / 0) #24 Wed Dec 23, 2009 at 07:51:34 AM EST
I'm sure there's some people who'd do D&D, or some other MMO, but I bet we have some L4Ders around too. I just started with L4D2 (Liverpool 6, Manchester 3) so I could do with a group who won't call me n00b in angry tones.

Today and tomorrow for me by FlightTest (2.00 / 0) #8 Tue Dec 22, 2009 at 12:14:43 PM EST
Then free for TWELVE DAYS!!!!   And I only had to burn 4 vacation days to get 12 off.

We get every other Friday off, with half of us working each Friday so theoretically our customers are covered.  The 1st is my off Friday, so since it's a company holiday I get Monday the 4th off as well.
