Help!
By Dr H0ffm4n (Wed Jan 28, 2009 at 06:16:48 AM EST) (all tags)
I'm going to a murder mystery party this Saturday of a friend I've had since Uni days. She will be 40 years old. She's married, without kids and does scuba diving or some outdoors activity most weekends.

What should I get her for her birthday? Budget would be £50-£100.

< Oh, so it's going to be THAT kind of day. | It makes me HOT!! >

How well do you know her ? by Phage (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Jan 28, 2009 at 06:37:34 AM EST
Artistic ?
Theatrical ?
Musical ?
A Harley owner ?

Not artistic by Dr H0ffm4n (2.00 / 0) #5 Wed Jan 28, 2009 at 07:02:22 AM EST
Dislikes theatre having dated a man who insisted on taking her twice a week for about two years.

She owns a piano, but hasn't touched it for years.

She'll be supplying cases and cases of champagne for the party, and doesn't drink much at home herself, so booze isn't such a good idea.

I hear women totally dig on that kind of thing, but what do I know?

I think you can get a half day at The Sanctuary and a couple of treatments for about 100 quid.

But they've ramped their prices up in the last 2 years.  And they're shut until March.

Sorry about that, should have checked before posting.

I popped in yesterday on the way by Dr H0ffm4n (2.00 / 0) #24 Sun Feb 01, 2009 at 02:35:06 AM EST
and bought her a day package. Ended up a 'little' over the £100, but she was chuffed to bits.

I got a twin day whatsit for my sister's 30th by Breaker (2.00 / 0) #26 Sun Feb 01, 2009 at 11:41:27 AM EST
A few years ago, and she loved the whole day - the staff are really, really good at taking care of you apparently.

And who doesn't like a little pampering?

are incredibly cheap, and adding treatments would be good too.

I looked at that by Dr H0ffm4n (2.00 / 0) #25 Sun Feb 01, 2009 at 02:37:06 AM EST
But the woman in question lives out west from town anyway, so coming in to Waterloo and then having to go out to Bethnal Green would maybe take the edge off any relaxation. But thanks for the info. Would be useful for peeps in Docklands.

a giant bar of chocolate and a bottle of wine.

It's far too cold for anyone to be out doing outside things in this weather.

scuba gear is out by Dr H0ffm4n (2.00 / 0) #13 Wed Jan 28, 2009 at 08:54:01 AM EST
She trains scuba classes. She has her double garage full of scuba gear. I know nothing of scuba gear. I mentioned scuba because it is an indication of the sort of person she is.

That cocktail shaker looks whack. What sort of loser would try and sell such a thing on eBay??
