Happy 2009, everybody!

We got home last night. Everywhere in the country but New England had wonderful flying weather yesterday. Here, it was snowing and blowing. But Southwest was on time. We were due in at 7:50 and the Weather Service winter storm warning ended at 7:00.

The landing was... interesting. Gusty wind, not lined up with the runway, led to the 737 kind of wallowing down the glide path. When the deceleration was done, the cabin burst into applause. I complemented the pilot and co- on my way out on a nice landing. "Thanks," he said. "Glad somebody notices."

Then came driving home. The roads were not that bad; lots of snow plows and salt trucks and not much traffic. The garage door was a bit drifted, so we had to dig a bit to get the car in.

It's 4 degrees out there. Fahrenheit. Keepin it real, yo.

And our other car is repaired. It got whacked the weekend before Thanksgiving (late November). We'll pick it up Friday.

And the puppies. We miss the puppies.

The kitties were happy to see us, though. I have a purring cat in my lap right now, in fact. Makes typing on the laptop a bit awkward. I think when he decides to go watch the birds or something, I'll make a loaf of misslake's beer bread for breakfast.

Here's to a 2009 that's better in every way than 2008.

I'm glad it was dark.
