Teddy died a little ways back, and Lamb and I were sad, but...

She found a guinea pig who loves to snuggle. Named her "Yume" which, Lamb says, is Japanese for "Dream".

Speaking of Japanese - am I wrong in thinking that Japanese animation is getting steadily better, while American cartoons are becoming appallingly bad? This made my eyes bleed. I'd almost rather let my daughter watch Afro Samurai. Almost. 'cause SWHTL would beat the snot out of me if Lamb started repeating phrases like "I'm gonna kick yo' ass, punk-ass mutha-fucka!"

With the exception of Pixar, yes.

Probably the biggest reason we restrict the kid's TV viewing.

American cartoons ... appallingly bad by wiredog (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri Jan 02, 2009 at 02:43:06 AM EST
Remember the cartoons from the 70's? Spiderman, Superman, even Star Trek? The quality of those is unbelievably bad. A bare cut above South Park in technical skill, and not nearly as good plot-wise.

Some anime that I saw in the 70's (Space Battleship Yamato? Something like that.) was pretty good. So this trend is nothing new.

I'm not even talking about the quality of the animation. The animated Star Trek, for example, had stories written by Larry Niven and James Blish.

"Flapjack" looks like it's being done by a guy who watched the Yellow Submarine then downed an odd combination of meth and psychedelics.
