Dairy produce galore.

Ice cream

I made the perfect coffee ice cream today. Skip the liqueur, chuck in some extra coffee (more flavour == good), stir in some grated dark chocolate before freezing. Lovely strong flavor, beautiful texture. I have plans to make different flavours of ice cream, but keep on coming back to coffee.

Apart from the Roquefort. I discovered Roquefort ice cream on my plate in a restaurant, accompanying a leg of duck, and became obsessed with the idea. It tastes like a regular sweet ice cream at first and takes a while for the cheese flavour to emerge, almost an aftertaste. It's a bit clever and I'm a sucker for slightly unusual foods and flavour combos. (see also: chilli brownies, bacon cookies) I found a recipe on the internets and made my own. It's a little stronger and you taste it almost immediately... not horrible IMO, but dgym won't touch it. I'd probably use less than half the recipe quantity of cheese next time. A small amount is very nice with some pear sorbet, honey and nuts. I've got about 600ml of the stuff left and it'll probably last for ever.

Cheese

I am pretty devastated that the local cheese festival has been cancelled thanks to "inclement weather" (i.e. it's been a bit rainy and windy this week) It's pretty much the event of the year around here, the cheesy centre of my life. You go around big tents all afternoon munching on as many cheese samples as you can stomach, then decide you're sick of cheese and want nothing more to do with it for many weeks. Plus there's cider and lots of other foody stuff. At least my sisters are still coming home for the weekend, haven't seen them both together since Christmas.

Non-dairy

Sorry... dairy produce has been the topic of the day and I have nothing more to add.

Over here, a bit of rain never stopped a good festival.

Nice town, lovely campsite. I have some nice memories of camping by the lake there when we cycled across denmark.

Chili's and chocolate is a great combination.  A staple of Mexican cooking.
