Success in the geeking the frell out this week.  Details below the jump...

Oh, vote for the Bus Stop Stallions!  Last week, they weren't even on the list.  Now they're #65!  Vote early, vote often!

So, I flocked a bunch of minis.  Two squads and everything...

I managed to build something.  I even  managed to paint something...

So I made a hill as part of a hill making tutorial on my 40K club website.  I'll spare you the details and whatnot, And I even managed to paint it, too.  In addition, a couple of days ago I think it might be cool to make some kind of guard tower for longer sightlines so I drew it up and copied it Friday and whipped one up this evening.  Not too shabby if I say so myself.  I also managed to get my couple batches of flock sifted.  I still have to run one of them through the tea ball, but otherwise, Still doing pretty well.

I even managed to start a gate for my big ass walls.  Unfortunately, I've only drawn it out and put it on foamcore.  I haven't started cutting yet.  But it is started and that's the point.

Oh, well, that's it for now.  Boring, I know, but that's my geekery for the week.  For this week, my new goal is to flock another squad and get that gate done.  I think I can handle that.

Blah blah blah yackety schmackety 40K commentary blah blah blah.

And I'm out.

The guard tower of Pisa by debacle (2.00 / 0) #1 Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 07:32:47 AM EST
What sort of civil engineering is that? Our beaver ancestors are rolling in their graves right now.

Also, foamcore? Really? Man, I hate foamcore. Never really looks quite right and it creases way too easily. If you buy the same foam it looks like you made your hill out of, and paint it with some silicone-based compound, it works pretty well. It also turns out to be just about the same price, but you can do so much more with it.

My picture taking is.  I use foam core because I find fiberglass board to difficult to work with for walls and such.  With foamcore, all I need it an exacto knife and some graph paper since 3/16" is close enough to 1/4" for government work.  Fiberglass board, in the other hand, is much more expensive, a little harder to come by and isn't easily gotten in less that 3/4" inch thickness and I'm not equipped to shave it to 1/4".  If I could, though, I completely agree with you.  It would be far superior.

I go for easy and decent, not perfect.  I lose a foamcore building, I can always make more just like that...

Why not use foam insulative board? Fiberglass board is expensive.

Pink foam board IS fiberglass... by atreides (2.00 / 0) #4 Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 08:21:52 AM EST
...and it's a lot sturdier and better for big things like hills.  It's not that expensive either.  I'm sure I could find something cheaper, but I like the product.
