My boyfriend, Filip, has been shopping at Whole Foods a lot lately and yesterday he gave me two protein bars to try out. They're labeled "Think Green Cranberry Apple" and they're delicious and packed full of all the kinds of good stuff we should all eat. However, they also contain "Green Tea Extract" which is full of caffeine.
So, about 30 minutes after eating two of these suckers for breakfast I noticed that I was sweating, shaking, getting a headache, and typing reallly reallllly fast but making lots of mistakes. I fished one of the wrappers out of the trashcan at my desk and read the ingredient list. The other suspect ingredient is "Acerola Berry Juice Powder." Let's see if that stuff has caffeine, too . . . apparently it doesn't have caffeine but it's one among the many newfound or rediscovered foods on the market considered a "superfood" for its antioxidant content.
It's now about 4 hours since the accidental caffeine dose and I still feel the effects. I can't believe this is how I used to feel all the time! How did I ever get anything done or hold a normal conversation?
Based on what I've observed so far, I think the liberal application of several fresh Mojitos will be the only cure for me.
