Shame the pontiac snoz looks like ass. Good to see Holden's engineering and manufacturing practices have improved from the shoddy 70s/80s that it can compete and exceed on the world stage in terms of quality and design.

Looks like Holden will only survive as an engineering house though (similar to Lotus' business model). Auian car manuacturing is probably dead now and can only exist on life support with government support. Holden will prob hang on longer as it has export markets for its niche car (mid-size V8 RWD platform).

Also the bumper laws in the US have made the nose of the Commodore bulgier, looks uglier than the blunt flat nose of the Commodore.

It's just like a Beamer except it looks like crap by lm (4.00 / 1) #1 Fri May 30, 2008 at 07:22:57 AM EST
I can't recall the last BMW I've seen that looks as fugly as that Holden beastie. But that may be a function of where I live and the low number of beamers on the road hereabouts.

the pontiac nose hasnt been kind to the holden by cam (2.00 / 0) #2 Fri May 30, 2008 at 10:23:17 AM EST
on this model or the GTO. It looks better in standard holden, middle-east chevy or hsv trim. I think the only reason they compare it to a BMW is because it is RWD and has a V8. It is about the only American 'branded' car that matches that platform.

Personally I think Holden drew the short straw exporting it as a Pontiac in the US.

Is the car market in Arkansas and West Virginia actually big enough to justify the cost of exporting the cars?

since they are unibody they are lighter (and better on gas) than a body on frame construction. They also haul as much as the truck pickups. Probably see more of that type appearing in place of the pickups.
