Gramps is in the hospital.

I won't bore you all with gory details.  Suffice to say he's currently suffering from the same problems his father faced in his last days.  And personally, I'm torn between my desire to keep him around, and my desire to tell him, "it's OK gramps.  You've fought long enough."

Parkinsons has kicked him long and hard over the last few years.  And they keep testing and prodding and poking and saying they have this new experimental surgery and I sort of think he's just mentally and physically exhausted.

He's the best of the family I've got left down there.  I fear what grandma will do if it is his time.  She's not the most stable person to begin with.

This is not good, no matter how you look at it.

It is a wonder that with all science has cooked up in the modern age, we haven't found a way to end it with dignity and respect.  Those passing of old age almost always go out in the worst of ways.

Lord knows as hard as gramps lived he deserves more dignity at the end than he's getting.  If anyone deserves to have "I just want to fall asleep and not wake up" as an option, it should be him.  Sadly, it doesn't sound like it's going to be that way.

to blame Mrs dad and MSSS for gramp's decline ? Causing a mental toll on the old duffer or something ?
