Whoever said "many hands make light work" has never installed curtain rods with a 2 year old in the room.

The worst part is adjusting the strings inside the rod so that the curtains meet nicely in the middle. Very fiddly work, and lots of stuff for wee hands to grab.

He liked to watch me use the drill but wouldn't touch it himself, and was utterly terrified by the angle grinder. I suppose he'll toughen up with time and repeated exposure...

My wife let our son help paint his own room at two.

Terrifying. I refused to be involved.

for curtain rods ? I mean, dude, wtf ? What needed to be ground down ? Most are self-sprung to fit, or wood/plastic, so you cut them on the miter saw

I'm hard core, baby by clover kicker (4.00 / 2) #4 Wed May 21, 2008 at 08:40:04 PM EST
I was recycling the slidey-adjustable rod for the valance (sp?), and had only eyeballed it. Turns out  when I actually tried to install the rod was an inch too long, and if I took the middle bit out it was 2 inches too short.

I could have used a hacksaw and filed the cut smooth, but this was quicker, and much more fun.
