The Grand Sophy - Georgette Heyer
Our price: £3.31
One of the best!
This is one of the very best Heyer. Such a significant heroine that I ended up naming my daugher after her! As with most of G Heyer's works, the historical accuracy is exemplary and the storyline grand!
Love it
My mum has all Georgette Heyer's books and this was the first one I read - I love it and have read it over and over again. Sophy is such fun and a breath of fresh air in stuffy Regency society
Best Heyer ever!
I absolutely adore this book - its one of my favourite comfort reads whenever I read a lift. All the characters are brilliant and the plot's great fun. Sophy's one of my favourite Heyer heroines, she's strong and vibrant, and her relationship with Charles is very enjoyable. Can't recommend it strongly enough!
One of my favourite Heyer books
I have many favourites amongst Heyer's works but this is probably one of the most read ones in my collection. All the characters are fantastic so even after you've read the book a hundred times you will never tire of it.
Sophy comes to stay with her Aunt so that she can find a husband but takes up a few extra curricular activities including sorting out her cousin Cecelia's love life.
Sophy's defence to her cousin Charles accusation that she's been teaching his sister to liken his fiance to a horse will 'have you in whoops' and you will find a character who you will love to hate in Miss Wraxton the horsefaced fiance herself. This is a must-read for all Regency novel fans.
Hoorah for Heyer
This is my second favourite Heyer novel, after Friday's Child. This is again, classic Heyer, Regency England, hero and heroine thwarted in love, misunderstandings aplenty, bags of humour and fantastic historical detail. Here, what is so wonderful is Heyer's wicked sense of inventiveness which just lifts the plot completely out of the ordinary and makes it a thing of wonder. There is such humour and mischief in these pages. The characters sparkle and Sophy herself is a triumph. She is one of Heyer's feisty heroines with pluck, intelligence and vigour which make her both the hero and the heroine rolled into one. She sweeps one up on the most fantastic adventure and you just can't help falling in love with her. Exquisite.
