Breathe. Not so bad.
I have learned something very important about all this from a formal clothing perspective. Everywhere seems to be all about rental of formal wear but get stumped at people who actually want to buy things. And when they do have a stock of things for sale, they're positively fit for a teenager dressing for his prom. Go into a store and ask for a dark blue vest for purchase. They have sky blue, crazy patterned shit and that's it. I would think dark blue would be a standard color. Of course, they could have it made but it would take 6 weeks. Well, what if I'm going to the opera in 2 weeks and don't have that much time? Or a formal dinner? I shouldn't think I'd have to think that far ahead to find something new and decent to wear. But no such luck. Oh, well. Enough about that.
Strangely enough, about half my family is coming. My uncle here in Austin, my cousin in Louisiana (he's not a coon-ass, I promise) and his girlfriend in Houston, my aunt from Denver and her husband and, of course, my mother... I haven't even heard anything from my other aunts and uncles but I know they got their invites because Mom made a point of telling me about anything that might have gone wrong with them. Turns out that I'm the first male of my generation to get married. There's only three of us, but the one cousin has a girlfriend so there's hope, and the other just got promoted to Colonel in the Army Air CorpsAir Force so I'm guessing he's not dating much these days. Man, I hope I don't regret inviting my mother. I'm pretty sure she'll play nice in public but there's always that chance...
Alright. I guess I'll go back to doing work now. Or at least acting like I am, anyway.
That is all.
