Lunch. Perhaps some other stuff.

Seems like it's been forever since we, the people of the Boston Husi Cabal, had lunch together. Shall we plan to do it next week sometime?

Known constraints:

  • I have meetings til 11:30 or noon Tues, Weds & Thurs, and a meeting at 2pm on Thurs. Let's call it 11:30 all 3 days. So I could make something nearby by noon, or further afield by 12:30.
  • toxicfur has other lunch dates Wednesday and Friday, and asks that, if it's Thursday, 12:30 works better than noon.

Weigh in with your constraints and concerns, if you're able to be there. Rumor has it that aethucyn may be joining us.

Otherwise, how are things? There are some moments that are much better than others. Sometimes strung together to make most of a day, even. Which is to say that while I'm sure there were times the abyss opened before our feet, on the whole, looking back over a day, 'twasn't as bad as some others.

The dogs are continuing to adjust to each other. I think Rusti is getting the idea that yes, she has to listen to me, too. I suck as an alpha-dog, pretty much. But maybe she's getting to the point of respecting my "I don't ask very much of you, but when I do, you'd better do it" attitude. That prolly needs fixing, but it makes me tired to think about it. For similar reasons to the fact that I'm really happy not to have any employees or minions at work that I have to keep (gainfully) amused.

Hm. It narratives, eh? Not sure what to do with that. Wonder Falls from the point of view of the trout on the wall?

OK, coffee, then some dataslinging for the rest of the afternoon. The fun never stops, I tell you.

The secret is forcing the dog to make eye contact with you, which it normally would not do (a dog looking at the alpha dog in the eyes is likely to get attacked)  Start by using treats and whatnot, but once you get the dog to look you in the eyes on command, you have it easy.

Kellnerin availability by Kellnerin (4.00 / 2) #2 Tue Feb 19, 2008 at 09:40:00 PM EST
so far, for the week of 2/25:

Leap day is out. On Thursday, 12:30 is better than noon for me too. Other days are OK, with Tuesday slightly less good than others.

Actually if everyone can make it, let's call it Thursday at 12:30, since I'm speculating that's the day that will be least likely to have an inopportune meeting appear on it. (And if, by posting this, I guarantee that such a meeting materializes, we'll have time to make alternate plans.)

Where? The usual?

Also, I'm sure you can think of an it to narrate. And if you can't, I may have a few ideas for you ...

I might come up for that, especially if by johnny (4.00 / 2) #3 Tue Feb 19, 2008 at 09:40:08 PM EST
my Pains editor and or my Next Book Idea Grrrl happened to  have some time available before or after for special consults. . .
Buy my books, dammit!

Right now, I'm pretty okay with Thursday the 28th, except I have a pending thing where that was one of my possible dates/times, but I suspect is least likely to be good for the other person.

End-of-month tends to be a bad time for carving too many hours out of the day; after work sometime though, is something possible ...

I can't confirm an appearance by aethucyn (2.00 / 0) #4 Tue Feb 19, 2008 at 10:30:45 PM EST
but later in the week is better for me, since I need to negotiate a day off with my boss who is currently out of town.

Sounds like Thurs the 28th at 12:30 is a good straw-man to run up the flagpole and see who shoots at the mixed metaphor. I may have to scoot out around 1:30 to make my 2 o'clock meeting (or just be a bit late; they'll deal).

ad hoc, you in?
