Politics

I was pleased to read this fascinating document which addresses such difficult to understand issues as "why do public toilets matter?"

It's good to know that the government is looking at the provision of public toilets from every conceivable angle

"Public sex in toilets appears to have existed as long as public toilets have existed."

 From "no shit Sherlock" department:

"A 1993 study into motivational factors behind men who have sex with other men in public toilets found that the three main factors were that they enjoyed the activity sexually, the excitement or thrill and anonymity. The least significant factor was finding a long term partner suggesting that public toilets do not provide an alternative to commercial gay spaces or internet dating"

Section 4 of this document is priceless. If ever you want an example of the UK "nanny state" in full swing, look no further than this...

Sometimes these dollars by jxg (2.00 / 2) #1 Fri Dec 05, 2008 at 12:04:58 AM EST
they go to projects having little or nothing to do with the public good.  Things like fruit fly research in Paris, France.  I kid you not!

Have traditionally been used as research vehicles as they have (relatively) simple DNA and short lifespans, which make it easy to follow breeding effects over multiple generations.

I've voted for them a couple of times and up until recently thought they were the least bad option.

That is the rub is it not? by Breaker (4.00 / 1) #7 Fri Dec 05, 2008 at 06:30:57 AM EST
Everytime I have voted, I've either spoiled my paper or voted for "least worst".

Not a positive view on democracy, is it?  The closest any party has got to representing my views is this lot, but they have neither a complete manifesto nor any chance of actually winning anything.

Fucking hell that is depressing.

Yeah that's democracy by nebbish (2.00 / 0) #8 Fri Dec 05, 2008 at 06:57:20 AM EST
Everybody disagrees so we have to compromise :) It's the only way.

It's like a menu where there's a shit sandwich, a piss milkshake or a knobcheese salad and that's your choices.

Shit sandwich is Za-NuLabia

Piss milkshake is the Tories

Knobcheese salad is the Lib-Dems

the Greens would be a decaying magic mushroom pizza and the BNP would be the BNP.

A shared hobby like hanging around public toilets is always a good basis for a long term relationship.
