Print Story Going home.

We're off home tomorrow. We've been in Colorado visiting my folks since Christmas Day.

Of course, there's a winter storm watch for New England tomorrow, and a prediction of sub-zero windchills after sunset (when we'll get there, Lord willin' and the Creek don't rise).

It's been a mostly good time, relaxing, playing with the nieces and nephew, going into town for dinner at an excellent Mexican restaurant with a childhood friend. Lots and lots of nothing much. 'Twas good.

When we got here, late on Friday night after a day of celebrations on the second day of Christmas (what with having traveled on the first day), Mom happened to mention that their insurance doesn't cover us driving their car. If they'd told us before close of business, or while we were making reservations, we could have either verified our insurance would cover a borrowed car, or rented a car. I think toxicfur felt a bit overwhelmed by a houseful of people, and then trapped so we can't even go to the store or whatever. There's a really funky little bar in the nearest town, about 8 miles away.

The internet informed us there were no cars for rent, but we decided to walk in to the nearest car rental agency, which is across the parking lot from the grocery store. "Sure," he says. So we rented us a car for a few days of mobility. Another crisis solved.

Anyway. Tomorrow we fly back to New England. We have a decent boarding order (it's Southwest), so we can probably sit together.

The 'rents have cut back on their Faux News habit while we were here, which is much appreciated. There's lots of football to watch; and at the moment Dad is in the other room watching a bowl game, and Mom is with us, watching a Nova show on Mars, which is really quite interesting. The experts do a lot of hand-waving, but it's interesting stuff.

And hey, there's free wi-fi. What's not to like?

My new macbook, eeyore, is performing wonderfully. It's nice to not have to worry about the battery falling out of the bottom of the machine.

Happy rest-of-Christmas to all. Or happy days upon which other people might celebrate the latter half of Christmastide, to the rest of you.

And all that. Glad it's been a good visit.
