This amused me:
[Alan Conrad QC, for Mr Donovan] said his client ... was a "pathetic inadequate" who was "vulnerable, unsophisticated and weak in body and mind".

What a charming defence!  I wonder how the jury will find them...  My guess would be that both are found guilty.  Poll inside.

will get a lighter sentence than the mum and she probably did bully him into it.

Shrug, a very rare case of two very fucked up individuals who shouldn't be trusted with a lighted match, let alone care of children.
