I'm also amused at their non-voice call pricing. Really, 20 cents for a text, $2.99 to rent a ringtone for a year? Maybe I should have held out for an Android.
After the phones, we went to the mega-Wegmans down the road, and while getting the monstrously long cart in order, we ran into an old friend. Her H also works here (we met as contract software testers back in 91), and is working on finishing his BS, trying to stay marketable and avoiding the big L in January. I'm less worried since I've seen a few names on the farewell party list, and I've racked up some goodwill by going to Cleveland.
Sunday evening, seven year old was playing on Club Penguin and skype rang, it was the AFs. She ended up having a virtual playdate, hooray!
In a burst of activity Sunday night, I racked off my lager, since I used different hops than my normal, the yeasty remnants tasted a little different, hop wise. I don't recall what hops I used though, maybe 1 z of Fuggles and 1 z of Cascade, or 2 zs of Fuggles. I normally use 2 zs of Cascade. I should keg Monday or Tuesday, so I can have fresh lager on tap for Christmas.
I also packed up ebay stuff for mailing, and bought a few more presents with my ebay money. The post office was insane Monday, even using the standalone mailing kiosk. I'm done ebaying for the year, I did good, after all my ebay selling Christmas is only costing me about $200 this year.
There is gaming news, twelve year old and I played a game of Viktory II last Saturday night, a 2 person game on a 3 person sized board. She got out to an early start, grabbing one of my towns, but I used the "unable to build reinforcements rule if an enemy is adjacent" rule to starve the city and take it, while also blockading it with a frigate. It was an odd game, I only built one cannon, and never used it. This Saturday is the monthly gaming meet, but I'll be on the road so I'll miss it.
Yeah, I had to go to Cleveland, I arrived Thursday night, in a non-stop 4 hours 15 minutes trip, the roads were fine. This morning Cleveland dodged an ice storm by a few degrees, I still had to scrape ice off the minivan. Rochester had the school's closed down, the girls started their Christmas vacation a day early, and Mrs. Ha left work early.
The minivan, I do like the Toyota Sienna, except for a few quibbles. It's goes suprisingly fast, I was hitting 70 without realizing it (measured by GPS, the speedometer indicates 1 mph less than the GPS). The CD player includes mp3 capability, so I've only had one CD in the whole trip. I don't know if Van Morrison will do for a trip back in ice and snow, I may need to change it. The gear shift comes out of the front console below the radio, it's an odd place for a shifter. The back seats fold down out of the way, which is sort of the reason I rented a minivan, I had to bring one of our test servers loaded with the latest build to avoid a 3 hour upgrade time and give a quick backout method.
Once I get back, I'm on vacation until the 5th, woot! Two weeks off.
