Print Story I wonder what my Aura looks like?

I was intrigued by the AuraCam 6000 the results it produces look very interesting.

I've also been investigating orgone generators, and I think I've found a couple of products worth further investigation...

The Astro Trend Generating System. It combines the two sciences of Astrology and Orgone energy in an almost miraculous piece of chi-generating technology.

The deluxe gem encrusted generator. This one seems reasonably priced. I guess for £40 if it turns out not to work, its no big deal.

Don't buy the AuraCam by dark nowhere (4.00 / 4) #2 Tue Dec 16, 2008 at 06:59:34 PM EST
If you want something like that, just buy a webcam  and remove the lens filter. Done.

Protein Pills: Taken.
Helmet: On.

So will it show my aura? by dmg (2.00 / 0) #19 Wed Dec 17, 2008 at 02:16:19 PM EST
How can I be sure it isn't just some sort of artifact due to the lens filter being removed?

In a way, by dark nowhere (4.00 / 2) #20 Wed Dec 17, 2008 at 02:32:39 PM EST
the exclusion of non-visible light is an artifact due to the presence of the lens filter being present, or the insensitivity of your retinas.

Your aura, like, wants to be seen man. We just don't want to face the truth, so we filter it out.

Protein Pills: Taken.
Helmet: On.

The last thing the mega corporations who manufacture webcams etc want is for the people to wake up and see their auric fields.

Perhaps you mean Astronomy? by dmg (4.00 / 1) #7 Wed Dec 17, 2008 at 08:53:10 AM EST
Astrology is the scientific study of the movement of the starts and planets in order to make testable predictions of the future.

Calm down! by dmg (2.00 / 0) #9 Wed Dec 17, 2008 at 09:23:37 AM EST
No need to get all riled up. This distinction between the sciences of Astrology and Astronomy is a relatively recent development.
If you want to learn more about the science of Astrology, there are plenty of resources on the internet to get you started.

Or perhaps you just dismiss this valuable area of research because it doesn't match the blinkered world view of modern day science? (which for the record, cannot account for 90% of the mass of the universe, and hasn't yet found a cure for the common cold).

Maybe not.

If you mean "testable predictions of the future position of the planets" I'd be inclined to agree with you. But then that's better known as "celestial mechanics" or perhaps "spherical geometry" or even "physics". Any extension into metaphysics is hokum.

Unless you're in Kansas, of course.

You can't prove a negative. by ad hoc (2.00 / 0) #13 Wed Dec 17, 2008 at 10:50:39 AM EST
The onus on on the one to prove it does have a relationship, not the one to prove it does not.

I'm willing to be convinced, but it would be your job to do it.  Given A and B, then C will follow. Give me a provable, concrete A, B and C. I mean something real. Not something like "If you're born between June and August you'll preen a lot".

It's up to you to prove it.

I look at it from a scientific viewpoint. by dmg (2.00 / 0) #24 Thu Dec 18, 2008 at 08:05:12 AM EST
We already know that during full moons people go mental, and the position of the moon causes tidal effects, moving billions of cubic meters of water...
Due to Newtonian physics, we can be in no doubt that the location of the planets has a physical effect on everything.
Therefore, it's not such a great leap of faith to think that maybe the location of Uranus could have a bearing on your behaviour.

There are plenty of things other than the stars that affect our personalities to a greater or lesser degree - our blood group for example, but I think that in the main most of our personality is down to our time and place of birth.

Of course, mainstream science has a problem with this, but they will get there eventually. Look how long it took them to accept that the Earth goes around the Sun!

Watch out for over-zealous FDA agents.
As can be seen from other comments in this diary, people don't like it when you challenge the prevailing scientific orthodoxy. It seems to provoke cognitive dissonance of a destructive nature.
