I called my mother to tell her. She sounded like crap. She bowed out on the ultrasound because she was having dental work done and would be in no shape to deal with people for a bit. I don't know exactly what she was having done but, being a veteran of extractions and root canals, I understood her pain. Turns out that she also had the flu, too, so the dentist didn't finish whatever work it was. So there she was lying in bed with mouth pain and the flu. Ouch. However, she was glad to hear it was a girl. Apparently that's what she always wanted (which explains half my childhood). So she'll get up and jump around for joy as soon as she can get out of bed.
It took us a while to get on the road to Marfa because Welsh Girl hadn't finished packing and her sisters and mother kept watching the ultrasound DVD. Se also took off her wedding ring for something and forgot to put it back on so we left, noticed it missing, came back and then headed out again.
Marfa was nice as always. It was quiet and cool and we spend our time doing a whole lot of nothing. Of course, it wasn't a lot of time. We always take 3 day weekends, drive 7 hours out, sleep over, spend a day, sleep over and head out the 3rd day. Doesn't leave much time for relaxing... Since we didn't leave town until 2PM Friday, it left even less time. Luckily, time seems to go a little slower out there. Heck, if the bed was a little more comfy, we could spend a while out there as long as we take something to do to fill in some of the longer stretches. Our hosts, as always were fun. We were afraid the viewing out at McDonald was going to suck because of the near full moon. Luckily it didn't come up until 9ish so there was some lovely viewing. We also realized that it might be possible to bring a spud out there. Early on, it won't be moving much. Later we'll have to break the trip up a bit so it's not 7 hours straight in a car. However, we'll have to eventually do 5 hours to go see the Welsh Parents so there may be hope.
Last night I started packing. For those of you who don't know, the Satrapic Seat is moving to more spacious digs. We found a house in North Central Austin for rent and signed the lease last week. It's twice the size of our current place, three bedrooms, a sun porch which I will be converting into the official game room, a garage which will really be our massive storage room and a pool. It's 3 blocks from Phil's, 5 blocks from the Lair and much closer to the Forge where I do all my serious gaming. Actually, we may start meeting at my place since I have been ordered by my wife to start having people over. I remember mentioning an eventual housewarming party that I invited you all to. Well, eventually, that will happen. I'll keep you posted.
On a slightly different note, I'm thinking about building a serious gaming table. It kinda depends on how big the gaming room turns out to be (I've seen it, but haven't measured it out). And I definitely have to build some shelves. Them game books and minis aren't going to house themselves!
That's about it for now. I think. Time to get the fu-nuck out of work.
That is all.
