With idiot grin
I'm stupidly happy
You won't catch me in

I have nothing to say because I have no real problems. Kinda puts bit of a strain on this entire "user generated content" thing when the user base is doing alright. :) And yet, I feel I must do my part. So here I am, doing my part.

Let's see. Friday, we find out the sex of the baby. I thought my mother would be the first to find out after us. She lives close to the office so we were going to drop in and show her whatever we had (especially the DVD). Well, it looks like the Welsh Parents will be driving down Thursday night to actually go with us Friday morning. So I'm trying to find out if my mother wants to go too.

Friday after the ultrasound, Welsh Girl and I are heading out to Marfa for the weekend. We both want to get away real badly and we're not even sure when we're going to make it back out there. We've been going twice a year, but Welsh Girl is not sure how she feels about car travel with a little baby. And then again, who even knows if we'll have the time or energy? She's going to (in theory) write and I'm going to paint and we're going to just relax for a bit. Not for long, though. The big problem with our trips out there is that it's a little hard to drive 8 hours in a day, spend a day and then drive 8 hours the third day. You barely even get to relax.

Last week, we were looking at new places to move to and stumbled across a house. We're going to sign a lease this afternoon. It's pretty awesome. Three bedrooms, pool, within walking distance of library and grocery store, within 10 minute drive of bookstore and all my high geekery shops. We're pretty happy with it. We're going give it another look over and ask a few more questions and hopefully address a few concerns, but realistically, unless it's built on an indian burial ground, we're taking it. And if we're lucky, one day we might even get the chance to buy it. But that's putting the horse before the cart.

This, of course means that after we more in we're going to be throwing a party celebrating the new Satrapic Palace. I can't be sure, but I have an inside information source that tells me you will all be invited. Especially since the Basilissa has ordered me to start having people over to the new house.

That's it for now. Work beckons. :(

I'm stupidly happy
Are the words to that song
I'm stupidly happy
And nothing is wrong

Indian Burial Grounds are overrated.

#1 rule - DO NOT be in any kind of rush.  If you let the kid's needs run the show, you'll be OK. (setting everybody up for success!)

The dude can only be in the car 2.5 hours before he flips out.  We planned our vacation accordingly, stopping at state parks and other play places along the way so he could burn off some energy.

West Texas is a loooong way out there, but we made it there and back without too much trouble.

Oh, and be prepared for all kinds of stops on this trip.  Our trip to Austin while I was pregnant started the whole "I can't sit for more than 20 minutes without my legs going numb" thing.  While this isn't likely to happen to WG, who knows what other super-fun "normal" pregnancy issue might crop up.  (I hope this didn't sound bitter....I try to not be bitter about pregnancy).
