From here:
But there's a larger reality that's become unavoidable. Any system that, after barely a year of unpleasant consequences, resorts to taking money from teachers, doctors, cops, farmers, scientists, and small business owners and giving it to people like this is not only fatally flawed but deeply immoral.
I don't accept that not doing something was worse than letting all those failures fall flat on their face and be replaced by new/better banks and investment houses. It was the same jig we heard with Iraq and it was rubbish.

But the fact that every western country and quite a few others have bailed out their banks would suggest that it's not some massive conspiracy by Wall Street and the war-oil-republicans unless they've got secret agents in every German and French bank as well.

the wealthy helping themselves out at the expense of everyone else is universal in our current world.

I dont think it is a conspiracy by cam (4.00 / 1) #5 Tue Oct 14, 2008 at 11:32:01 AM EST
it is keeping money cheap by taking it from those that have it, and will have it in the future (through their productivity); ie the middle classes. That is pretty universal in liberal democracy.

I think John Robb has more and more of a thesis with his notion of weak states get 'looted'.
