Trip.
Weather.
Weekend.
Stuff.

So I went on a trip Friday.  It did  not go well.  Nothing explicit, just an implicit feeling I got.  It was to be a aptitude test for a programming position I had applied for. And after that an interview.  I was actually at the place 40 minutes ahead of time.  The traffic was light for the time of day. And bonus I didn't get lost like I thought I would.  I took the test.  Two sections.  First was math oriented and all that.  I finished it, but that didn't appear to be a good thing.  The second part was filling in blanks parts of a flowchart.  One was definitely a flow chart for a bubble sort.  I struggled with this section.  Then it was all over.  I was then placed out front and the gal who was running this whole deal came back after 5 minutes and claimed that the hiring manager was no longer in the building.  She had paged him to be sure.  He must have taken his lunch.  At 11:04.  So I flunked the aptitude test.  Oh well, it's just one lead, 45 minutes away, off the $3.00 per trip Toll road.

It was supposed to snow this weekend.  It did not.

This was a pretty blah weekend.  I took a late nap on Friday night and that messed my whole routine up a bit, pushing laundry to Saturday.  I also attempted to get MythTV setup, after letting that box sit for a few months.  I went with Knoppmyth.  My goal in all of this is to record all of the movies on TCM for their 31 Days of Oscar.  So I don't really need the channel changing to have to work, since it'd be on one channel for a month. ( I realize now that I'd need to split the cable before the digital box so I could watch the SuperBowl ads ).  But after installing Knoppmyth I am back to shit spawning too quickly.  I don't know if it's an issue with Knoppmyth or what.  I can install any number of other OSes on the box.  The latest version of Knoppmyth comes out Feb 4th I believe.  This weekend was the last full two days I had to work on it so meh.

So I was chatting with THAT GAL late Saturday night.  She mentions in passing that the winery we went to in '06 seems to have a few new wines.  I agreed.  I asked if she was looking to visit their again.  She said that some time soon yes.  I asked her if she wanted to go together then some time.  And before she answered my connection died.  So this morning I sent her an email.  Haven't heard back though.  So we shall see.

So I wanted to get out of this no reading rut I've been in.  To get the book I want to read in February, I went to the local library's website.  They have an online catalog.  So I search.  They do not have the book.  I then go to the state's online catalog and find that 4 libraries near me have the book.  Pennsylvania has a system called Access PA that all the pubically funded libraries belong to.  If you have a library card and it has a sticker, you can go to any library in the system and check out books.  I have a card from my old address with a sticker.  I research and find that the closest library also requires Photo ID.  The address on my ID will show that I am no longer in the same County as the library card.  I might be able to get away with it, but since the local library is not open late all week except Tuesday, and the library that has the book is not open late until Wednesday, and I'd rather make one trip, I've decided that I need to get a local library card ( which I will never use locally, the selection and hours are HORRIBLE ) and then go get the book I want.

On a related note.  Taxes need to be raised so we can have libraries open on Sunday and past 2:40PM on Saturdays.  That is my tax plan.

Wow.  The Kennedys are coming out strong for Obama.  That has to bite, just a tad.

I had 5 places to apply to today.  I succeeded in 3 of those.  One had a deadline of Tuesday that included letters of recommendation.  So I scratched that one.  The other had a fax number but it was busy busy busy.

I need to cut back on my spending again. Getting a smidgen lax with that.  Nothing bad, but I need to be better disciplined.

Got this link via the dKos: http://www.storyofstuff.com/  I only wish I could spend ten years of my life researching the obvious.

Anyway.  Off to bed.  Have a good one.

When something new is on the horizon I may be a bit more optimistic.

She's not replied at all. And it doesn't matter to me.  I need to go out and find someone else.  Soon I hope.
