Kids, cats, and comebacks, or the lack thereof.

Actually, I have no specific cute kid stories. All is pretty well. Little K was chosen for an advanced reading program in English (she's in Spanish Immersion), and MJ is trying to figure out the world. six and four are good ages.

Now, I insert picture of cat. This is Cleo, on top of Loretta's cage, where she spends a great deal of time. Loretta is a male guinea pig, and his full name is Sweet Loretta Martin. He teases the cat, getting her to bat at him, and jumping out of range.

Cleo has also developed a thing for Q-tips, which she finds, of course, in the bathroom trash can.

Please feel free to grab, cap and lolcat.

Lastly, earlier this week I was walking to the train through the remnants of the Leather District, which lies between Chinatown and South Station. I was wearing a suit, with a black wool coat my grandmother bought on Park Avenue sometime in the 1940's or '50's (Peck and Peck), my leather backpack (which I bought at the last leather dealer in the district) on my back. I passed a guy, one of the ones that hands out the free papers, heading somewhere. He was holding a big stack of the small tabloids, and had a vest with a walkie-talkie pocket, which contained a radio. My gaze must have lingered too long, because he looked straight at me and said, "Yuppie!"

I waited a few steps before I burst out laughing. There was nothing I could say to it, but it was so, so funny. Yuppie. Right. My camouflage is working.

I miss tf. There are a number of little things here that she would find funny, or cool, but aren't the big things you make sure to relate. Our $coworker, departing for a bigger job, is packing her desk and cleaning out her files as I type. I'll take her to lunch at the best hole in the wall in Chinatown today. We had her office goodbye party yesterday, for which I cooked rather than have it catered (spinach lasagna, grilled tenderloin with rolls for sandwiches). When we were deciding how much beer/wine to buy, we settled on a red, a white, and a 12 pack of beer, figuring that since $othercoworker and tf would not be at the party, we wouldn't need as much as usual.

(I can see tf shooting a bird at her screen...)

And I miss Rocky and Silas and work and my real life. I feel like I should be looking around for Virgil to tell me where to go next....

Oddly enough, when ana told me that part of your husiary for today was about Theresa's party and how many potables to purchase, I said, "Well, since I wasn't there, she could probably cut it by half...." Yup, said ana. I didn't realize that was actually what you wrote.... I'm not sure how I feel about that. ;)
