What changed in the last 7 years? Simple. I turned 21. And I started drinking. A lot. In fact, this past November and December, I have averaged from 9 to 12 beers per night. Besides being terribly unhealthy, it's impossible to lose weight drinking that much beer.
Fortunately, the past week I have been deathly ill (not really) from a terrible cold. Whenever this happens, I tend to give up on drinking both alcohol and caffeine. It's been over a week since I've had a sip of either.
So my four-pronged attack to lose weight is:
- Stop drinking. Okay, that's not realistic, especially since my birthday is coming up. So only drink on special occassions and never alone.
- Stop drinking caffeine. While caffeine doesn't add pounds of fat per se, it's containers usually do. So no more Coke and no more Pepsi for me. Incidentally, even though I've been off the stuff for a week, if I'm not taking my Acetinemenophen (sp) in the form of DayQuil or NyQuil for my terrible cold that I still have, I still get massive headaches. How fucking long do these caffeine withdrawals last? I was drinking way too much of the stuff though - probably about 500-750 mg per day.
- Exercise. Only 6 months ago, I could run 3 miles. Now I probably can't run 1. Time to start running again.
- Eat better. I'll never "eat well." I'm too finnicky to eat vegetables, and I really only like eating a tiny subset of all food. That food just happens to be the food that's bad for you. But I'll try, drinking V8 daily and eating an apple a day. Lots of raisins and nuts, too, instead of pop corn and potato chips. Oh, and Cheerios every morning.
I have other resolutions but they are too lame to share even with you.
I will post updates and reports. Because I know you guys care.
