Don't trust a good looking toad. Never.

I was the fittest boy in school. I knew it. I was doing sport all my waking hours after classes: swimming (all four styles), running, football (the real one), basketball, volleyball, the full lot.

One day an improvised race was organised by our sports teacher, after a premeditated slow start I came from behind and finally was running head to head with Toad, Josh and Bob, all of them enrolled in the local US rules football team (gridiron), they were reasonably fit but I knew they were no match for me.

When I was going to go pass them, two of them blocked me, the other one pushed me. I fell and hit the grass in an awkward way losing all my breath.

By the time I standed up all the rest of the class had finished (including the girls), I finished a resounding last, nobody else having seen exactly what happened because we were too far ahead of the rest when I was sabotaged.

When I reached the finish point Toad  was flirting with Caroline, the girl I liked the most, a few days later I saw them cosying to each other, they had become a couple.

I decided that day never to run again.

I, we all, were 11 years old.
