Print Story It Is Finished.

I feel like I've just given birth, though that's likely related to the sheer volume of yesterday's pasta I just pooped out. However, the art project I finally finished pooping out at 1:50 last night is giving me a stronger sense of accomplishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have completed my first double-album. You may bow down at my feet and worship me for a couple of moments now, it's ok. Crap, that never works.

So, two months ago or so, I sent out links to rough mixes of 28 of 30 songs, and got a lot of awesome feedback. At that time, I was a little burnt out on my own material, having lived and breathed it non-stop for a while there, preparing the rough mixes. Because of that, I decided to take a break from it, and then come back and attack the remixing/remastering with a clear head. This plan seems to have worked. I took almost all of the songs completely apart, and restructured, re-recorded, remixed, re-edited, and re-composed entire sections of the stuff, and the final versions bear almost no relationship to the previous iterations.

This is my natural tendancy; the tearing apart and rebuilding. Previously, with the mathgeeks stuff, I tried to keep that tendancy under control. The lack of hyper-editing and spastic, physically impossible drum breaks is what distinguished the mathgeeks stuff from the djginsu stuff, but I also missed the over-editing. And I failed to keep it out of the final product, anyway; it always ended up emerging in one form or another, though toned down from what it might have been, given full leeway. Well, this time? Fuck it. It's left brain vs. right brain, y'all, and they're in a fight to the death. My money is on left brain.

Prepare thyself for a flavor of THE ROCK: "and then confusion sets in (ballad of dwight and pablo)"

Dwight and Pablo are a couple of cats I know in the East Bay. They're both hella dope dudes, and I promised their Mom and Dad that I'd write a song about them, so I did, and this is it. And it rocks! With no distorted guitar at all! (Note: An organ and a piano were mutilated in order to create this sound. We deeply regret their passing, but hope that, in the end, it was worth it.)

Well, Dwight just wants to get his swerve on
Pablo prefers to chill
Now Dwight's more likely to take your whole stash
But Pablo'd just pop some pills

Is that pizza crust you got?
If so, Dwight would like some
Pablo, not so much so,
That said, he'd still like some ice cream

Pablo's nose got a straw full of catnip
Dwight's paw, dialin' kittens in the back
Don't even think about takin' string ball
Both kitten's gon' be on attack

Is that pizza crust you got?
If so, Dwight would like some
Pablo, not so much so,
That said, he'd still like some ice cream

Pablo's nose got a straw full of catnip
Dwight's paw, dialin' kittens in the back
Don't even think about takin' string ball
Both kitten's gon' be on attack

It's a gift. I don't even know how to explain it.

In the end, I feel relieved, and for two reasons: 1) all this crap that I've been working on for over a year is now done, or at least the creative portion of it is done, and I can concentrate on whatever the fuck I want, like, say, working on that cover of Timbaland and Ginuwine's "What's So Different?", which, seriously, is like the best song ever recorded, but needs a little speedmetal, or whatever, and 2) Cute Girl Downstairs won't have reason to beat me up like she threatened to do if I didn't make the deadline of Monday morning. Dudes, I JUST SAVED MY OWN ASS! How awesome is that? How awesome am I? Not that awesome.

But still, I'm more awesome than most of these fuckers out here.

Also, my Mom sent me the cutest pictures of Baby Puppy Mackenzie when she was actually still a baby. That pretty much made my day. Friggin' puppies!

So, ladies and gentlemen, I am heading downtown to Britannia Arms for mimosa's until noon, then mojito's 'til dusk. Or maybe I'll re-heat the leftover pasta from last night's carry-out, and light this hand-rolled cigarette. Who fucking knows?

I know, that's who.

Other thing to do with freetime: mathwad jazz orchestra; lousy, amateur jazz with the words of meatwad spoken atop them, but not in Meatwad's voice.

Wait, that's stupid. Where'd that cigarette go? Where am I? What's going on here?

hmmm curious...I have no idea where you would have picked that up from?

I like the cover art and cute girl downstairs is setting deadlines for you? What is up with that?

give me a moment, but I totally cannot wait to hear this.

Have I mentioned that mathgeeks looms large at my office?  Mainly due to the number of math geeks at my office, and their excellent taste in music.

This is not the first time such an accusation by MohammedNiyalSayeed (4.00 / 1) #7 Sun Aug 05, 2007 at 05:14:14 PM EST

has been leveled, though, sadly, they are all entirely unwarranted. I'm awesome, but not that awesome. Also, thanky! \m/\m/

And where may I obtain this epic... by 606 (2.00 / 0) #8 Sat Aug 11, 2007 at 01:40:27 PM EST
...and also where can I obtain my minor contribution to this epic? You know...

Congrats. I keep promising myself I'll stay focused enough to release a 6 song EP but I can't even manage that.
