I wanted to save this for my own attention later.

Seems to me this comment may be the most sensible thing anybody's said on the subject in a good long time.

Otherwise, how are things? Simon is still at the vet's. We're told they're installing a tube today that'll go from his neck to his esophagus. With suitable drugs, he may be home in a day or two.

This is quite the emotional roller coaster. It's horrible, seeing him so sick. But there's a pretty good chance he can pull through all this. And it's some kind of a testament to something, that we keep hooking up with critters, even though their lifetimes are short.

Anyway. I'm out.

There was an onion article about that idea by georgeha (2.00 / 0) #1 Wed Aug 29, 2007 at 04:33:46 PM EST
years ago. I'd link to it, but the onion is usually banned.

I remember in American Beauty how critics complained that the rabidly anti-gay homosexual was such a cliche.  And then it's been validated over and over again in the news by a series of prominent "family values" conservatives.

Maybe the connection is strong enough now that it will get some of these guys to shut up lest everyone else automatically assume they are also repressed homosexuals.

So say we all.

Best wishes for the kitty.

Dunno about that. I agree with each of the statements in the comment but don't agree that there's a causal link. It's just plain xenophobia.

Fear by duxup (2.00 / 0) #6 Thu Aug 30, 2007 at 12:18:27 PM EST
That was a good quote and I don't doubt is true in some cases.

My guess would be that fear has something to do with it in some cases as well.  If you're gay and scared out of your mind the best way to convince yourself otherwise would be embrace an organization with anti gay views.

I couldn't possibly be gay if I'm a member of this organization and hold these views!  Thank goodnesses, that clears that up.
