I'm officially between jobs.

It's hard to write about losing a job. Basically I'm unemployed at the moment. I haven't entirely figured out how to use it to my advantage best. All I can say is that I'm a little drunk with the knowledge that I can write anything I want and not have to worry about someone at work reading it and getting me fired. Which incidentally is pretty much what happened. If I knew I was going to get fired for the pablum I wrote I would have been far more outraged in my rants and I would have been more forthcoming with information. Now? I don't know, it's a heady feeling being free for the moment.

I've already started the job search. Since I don't have to worry about leaving a job to take a contract I expect I'll be taking a contract. I don't want to be out for long, so likely I'll take one as soon as I can.

What else is going on in life? Not much. We took a weekend trip to Cape Cod with the family. Spent the weekend in Sandwich with day trips into Hyannis and a couple other spots. It reminds me why I don't really like the Cape. It's pretty boring and overly touristy.

In town news? Not much to report. There was a resignation on our school board. It wasn't anyone who ran this year, but it was someone who would have been up for re-election in April. All I know is it was for personal reasons.

So that's about it. I think I'll be having some fine Irish whiskey to set me to sleep tonight. The first night in years I haven't had to worry about being being paged or phoned in the middle of the night.

I'm glad there's a bit of a silver lining (forced you to do what you wanted to do anyway), but it still sucks. It feels better to break up with them first, at least for me. Stupid reason to get fired, too - I can't figure out what it is you wrote that's worth getting fired over, unless they were just looking for a reason.

I'm critical of offshoring and the place I worked for is big in it. I know a lot about how the practice works and the dark side of it. Personally I would have kept me on a leash. I don't get it. They freed me to do whatever I want baring breaking a non-disclosure agreement that I don't think exists.

"Manager of Technology Education" position I know of.

It's for a non-profit, though, and probably won't pay what you need. It's also in Boston.

To be honest my salary requirement is about what a senior developer makes. I haven't been making PM money.

So, given that it's what I wrote on the internet I'm a little miffed. I'm also aware that what I write on the internet is in the public domain. And honestly, only put in writing what you want to appear in court as evidence.

I'm drunker than I have been for year's. I drank a lot of Jameson's. And I think we'll be okay. We have three months of savings to work through. Kita might be happy if we dump the house and run away. I might be too. I'm curious what it's like ot be living in the scrub land in a rob and being a masiah. Anyway I think we'll be okay.

FWIW (and 't'ain't worth much) I never saw you write anything that I thought was unprofessional or questionable. I think it's a shame that you were scapegoated.

It would be expensive and just doing it for moral victory isn't enough. Buteven now I won't post it in an open forum. My former employer (who is probably reading this right now) isn't beyond suing me for breaking a non-disclosure agreement. Even though it would mean me sitting in a court room telling everyone what I know and them having to admit it's all true.
