Working life

I was supposed to work late today and provide IT support in case anything went wrong just before our quarter end close, so I started at 1600h. I got into work just in time for The Man to buy me beer and play a couple games of foosball.

I spent the next few hours solving issues with the database. Said issues may or may not have been exacerbated by the alcohol I was having while trying to fix them.

Things cleared up. The rest of the IT department left. I watched the CEO in our courtyard through a window. He was in a dunk tank and the company's upper level sales people were trying to dunk him into it. They left.

I surfed the web for a while. I went to invite anyone left behind on my floor out for dinner, then discovered they were all having free sushi in the lunchroom. I ate sushi. It was free.

The rest of the departments on my floor left. I sat around and got bored. I surfed teh webs. I went and visited the few people who were left behind downstairs. They didn't seem to be having any technical issues. I discovered a hammock next to them and took a nap.

I went back to my desk and checked my email. I got bored and tried to take pictures of the city at night. They didn't turn out very well:

Toronto at Night

I went to check on the people downstairs. I discovered that the access cards stop working after midnight and I was trapped in the stairwell. I went down the stairs and outside. I was then trapped outside the building.

I called one of the people who I knew was still there. She called security. Security couldn't find me. Security called me. Security let me in.

It was 1am. I got my bike and went home.

I still haven't decided how I should log the hours I spent napping or locked out.

OMG DRIUSAN TAKES A NAP by komet (4.00 / 1) #1 Sat Jun 30, 2007 at 01:05:42 AM EST
The best time to take "night" photography is actually in the evening, during "blue hour". This is when the sky is still dark blue.

It wasn't so much by Driusan (2.00 / 0) #3 Sat Jun 30, 2007 at 06:51:34 AM EST
a "I want to take night photography" moment, it was more of a "Hey, look! They lit up the CN Tower for Canada Day Weekend! It's not as hideously ugly as usual! I'm bored! Look, a camera!" moment.

I was just helping those who thought 'exaggerated' might be an acceptable substitute.
