Fleece is coming to San Francisco. June 10th-ish to 16th-ish.

Fleece has never been to America and is not sure what to expect.

Fleece anticipates anal probing at airport, because that's how america welcomes foreigners. At least that's what they're saying on tv and the radio now.

The City ain't really America.  More homeless people and less brutality.

It's also beautiful and filled with neat stuff.  That's right in line with the rest of the country.

For your anal probing, just don't bring anything suspicious, like clothes, a bag, luggage, magazines, music players, hair, a face, or eye color.

in the prescription bottle, you should be fine.  Though maybe a doctor's note would be a good idea?  Let's see...I assume you've checked out the customs and border patrol site?

we can probably arrange some sort of piss-up. I mean, assuming you drink alcohol.

When I'm imprisoned as an enemy combatant, will you blog about it?

Apart from the ubiquitous black helicopters, anal probes and cow mutilation, SF is the US city most like parts of Aus.

There's some good bars, great food and the people are less aggressive than elsewhere. be aware that many things that are acceptable un Aus, like insulting your best mates (ya old bastard) will cause offence in the US where they are generally more uptight about that sort of stuff.

Expressions like sonuvabitch would get you thrown out of some bars, but saying fuck, would not. Just something to be aware of.

There was this restaurant overlooking the beach (at the end of that park some bloke spent his life fixing up) that is pure victoriana UK rip-off. Very similar to parts of Melbourne (and Brighton).
