on the reveal

so what does one get when one combines two drunken husites, a pile of alcohol, musical instruments, recording equipment, an over the top idea and a saturday?

we were standing in blix & co's living room talking over the challenge that he had issued to husi to re-record the final cut. i'll admit it. i had doubts. mostly doubts that anyone other than blixco and yours truly would do anything that required that much hubris. so i says to him, i says...

"ya know what we should do?"

"get more whiskey?"

"quiet you!...no...we should get together at my place and do the whole damned thing ourselves."

"uh...ok? next weekend is bad."

"ok. the weekend after. now where's that whiskey?"

two weeks later, we're in the living room rocking the fuck out. originally i wanted to do the entire thing in one long take, mistakes and complete fuck-ups be damned! but fortunately, blixco talked some sense into me and we decided on a three take rule. and if we didn't get it in three takes? fuck it. how could we not get it in three takes? it's just G and F, right?

ha!

so we hit record and got this:

there is no "editing" here. that's for people who don't understand art-with-a-capital-A. i changed the panning and some levels (a two mic setup is pretty simple) then chopped off the beginnings and ends of most of the tracks. the "witty banter" edition will be available shortly to all who enquire.

what now? take it and beat the shit out of it. we'd love to hear some female vocals dropped on some of those tracks. there are some gaps for weird noises. and hell, there's one track where we skipped the words entirely because it made us feel silly. think about that for a second. and just wait until you see the pictures...which i'll post later today...'round lunch, maybe?

Consider this set of tracks a framework. Do with them what you will: remix, add stuff, subtract stuff, completely re-do them, whatever. If you would like to record a track to lay on top of what we have but don't have the technical whoopdi to do so, drop me an email and we'll figure something out.

I'm actually planning on re-doing the vocals; during recording my big fear was that my vocals were overpowering the guitars. But how can anything overpower those guitars?!?

Anyhow: go nuts with it! We had a lot of fun doing it, a whole lot of fun, and I think y'all should all have the same fun with it.
