The News in Pictures

Featuring such classics as:

  • Don't let them "Keep a Welcome" with your taxes!
  • Don't give me that "compassion" waffle!
  • You kip on polish!
  • Ennys has your back, homes.

As some of you may or may not be aware, there is an election imminent in the mountain hill lumpy kingdom of Wales. For those overseas peeps who don't quite know how this works, it breaks down as follows. Jockland has a number of significant powers devolved to it from Westminster, so the Jockian Parliament takes care of those issues for Scotland. Wales is similar, but has fewer powers devolved to it.

There are no tax-raising powers available to the Welsh assembly, but the assembly decides how to spend Wales' slice of the tax cut, rather than it being decided from Westminster. The Welsh do have control over Health and Education, though; and policy differs in Wales from that in England.

Anyway, do you ever wonder what the British National Party have got to say about it?

Well, here you are:

It'd be funny if they weren't quite so sincere.

I mean, the window posters. They're all crumpled up and then smoothed out.

Near enough by yicky yacky (4.00 / 2) #3 Wed Apr 25, 2007 at 09:12:45 AM EST

I was visiting Granny Yacky and she was going theough her post. I heard her swear under her breath and crumple it up, so naturally I had to have a look.

I'm starting to think by nebbish (4.00 / 3) #4 Wed Apr 25, 2007 at 09:35:06 AM EST
The BNP might have a sex thing about immigration.

They might do better if their candidates weren't so uniformly terrifying.

A sex thing? by yicky yacky (4.00 / 2) #5 Wed Apr 25, 2007 at 09:57:43 AM EST

"Nymphoid Eastern-European fuck-sluts desperate for money who'll be too easy, screw all the men and spread disease"? Or "Don't want these swarthy foreign types coming over here and doing our wimmin-folk"?

I don't think the BNP have any idea of how that kind of stuff plays in Wales. As far as most Welsh folk are concerned, the BNP are English Tories in green wellies, not the antidote to them. There are more people leaving Wales than entering and it's not the (relatively few) immigrants who are driving up house prices (they can't afford it, for starters). Also the whole "British National Party" doesn't really wash with the "our Wales" thing. Many people in Wales have a fairly neutral view of Britishness as it's historically been a synonym for English cultural domination. There are plenty in favour of "the Union" and plenty of others who want nothing to do with it, and a vast load more who don't care about it very much, but the number who'll sign up to Nick Griffin's vision of Britishness is very, very low.

I think they fantasize about their wives by nebbish (4.00 / 1) #12 Thu Apr 26, 2007 at 04:19:53 AM EST
Doing it with immigrants. The feelings of horror mixed with sweet sexual release send them into paroxyms of rage.

That's my take on it anyway.

fear of miscegenation? by Merekat (4.00 / 5) #6 Wed Apr 25, 2007 at 11:12:50 AM EST
Can never spell that word. There's a councillor out west somewhere who wants the deer population culled coz he has fears they may enforce congress upon the heifers and breed a race of cow-deer. I only wish I were joking.

A stag has to weigh in at ~50% of a heifer. So what's his strategy ? Pursue them until they're too tired to run and collpase ? GHB in the trough ?
I look forward to the tabloid press on that one.

I doubt they'd buck it.

On the other hand, I can't claim to be an expert in this subject.

I've had pretty good luck attracting the unrequested attentions of females twice my weight.

If you call that luck.
