Well, not yet. But during the summer.

In terms of core population, Zuerich is about 1/3 the size of Dublin. Yet it looks like there are at least two fun looking events there this summer - zuerifaescht and streetparade. I anticipate my social life thawing out quite a bit, or at least gaining some variety on 'go to pub, drink too much, get bad tempered' or 'go to restaurant, eat and drink too much, get bad tempered'. Rollerblading seems possible too so I must remember to pack my skates.

This week has been remarkably meeting-free. Next week will make up for that. There is at least one fake meeting I can anticipate, in which I get 'consulted' about stuff that is already decided so that it can seem that I have nominal authority. Meh.

Watched Dr. Who. I think I prefer Ms. Jones to second season Rose but the scripts seem to be missing something. Pith, I think. I do enjoy the humour resulting from a slightly more intelligent character. Also watched some classic (repeat) ER. Funny watching Abby and Kovac being all young. Have to research if BBC4 will be available by any means in Switzerland. I can live quite happily without the rest of TV but BBC4 is the business. I am such a middle class cliché.

Ms. Jones, in the USA they haven't show episodes of her yet on the Sci Fi channel. So we have to wait, unless one is tempted by Bittorrent or something.

I think that Rose Tyler had a heart of gold, but sometimes I just think she didn't have common sense like trying to reason with a Dalek despite The Doctor warning her about them and telling her stories about Daleks wiping out civilizations as they traveled together. Then she touched it and gave it energy to break free, and it tried to kill her. While she didn't know that time travelers carry energy with them from the Tardis that Daleks can tap into, I think it is common sense not to even touch an alien with a destructive history like the Daleks.  Especially when it kept making threats like "Exterminate The Doctor" when it saw The Doctor.

Or are all the newer Dr Who plots allegorical "social commentary" written for kids?

But when was any of the social commentary aspect not somewhat heavy handed? (I'm a child of the Peter Davison generation).

I'll admit I did quite like the (fairly) casual reference to same-sex marriage in the last episode.
