Print Story Miss me?
Just a quick one as I really ought to be getting ready soon - so much to do, so little time...

Boy, when I get out of a habit, do I ever get out of it... So, what have I been up to in the 4 months or so since I last did one of these?

Well, my ex moved out at the start of the year, taking our daughter and an agreed portion of the shared possessions with her, leaving me the house and the rest of the stuff. Since then we've remained firm friends and have stayed in near constant touch. She has a job and (fingers crossed) a nice new bloke to help her forget about the few idiots she's nearly gotten things together with in the last couple of months.

I see my daughter every weekend, for a day or two, and phone her every night (as circumstances allow). She seems to be settling in nicely to her new school, and while she obviously misses me seems to be happy enough.

My company has finally been sold. So far the new overlords seem to be rather more clued-up than the old ones, but it's still relatively early days, so there's plenty of time yet... However the rather inconvenient office move is still definitely on (date to be confirmed), so my time there may well be limited.

As for me personally, I've been pottering along as I usually do, overall pretty content with things. That may all be about to change slightly though, as I have a date tonight (in about 2.5 hours in fact - hence the rush!) I won't say too much so as not to tempt Fate¹, but so far things seem to be going pretty well. She seems really cool (we've spent hours chatting over the last few days) and her pictures look good, so tonight is the acid test. Wish me luck...

1 Do not tempt Fate, for she has a wicked sense of humour and mad powerz

Good luck with the date. by ambrosen (2.00 / 0) #1 Sun Apr 01, 2007 at 07:50:36 AM EST
Hopefully you can stop caring more about the ex than you do about yourself soon. At least that's the way it looks.

And every time I read the government computer contracts bit in Private Eye, I think of you.

Not sure why you have that impression by Cloaked User (2.00 / 0) #4 Sun Apr 01, 2007 at 01:27:44 PM EST
Assuming it's just from this diary, anyway. For what it's worth though, the government contracts that we're involved in tend to be successful and come in on or under budget; they're very much smaller-scale though, we do websites, not huge great IT roll-outs.

In a weird mood; I had a good time, and she said she had fun too, so why this nagging feeling that it was a disaster? Why this undercurrent of sadness? I'd forgotten what this stage of proceedings could be like...
