Do you think the salon is going about it right? I think they're acting too quickly to liquify their asset. This is a great opportunity to create a collector frenzy over the hair.  They could sell small locks at various price points..  maybe even a strand or two here and there for 20 dollars each.  The resulting pokemon collector card market would be a phenominon. Once people start collecting they go crazy. Then you'd retain half the hair for 10 years later when the britney breakdown hair fever is at its pinnacle.

people will become experts at spotting counterfeit.  The whole counterfeit britney hair countermovement will be an industry in and of itself.

It's a huge mistake. Basically they don't understand the Britney market. Not too many 15 year old girls have a million clams to spare for a deranged pop tart's hair, but if it was priced at say, a hundred clams for an ounce, well, they'd be rolling in the dough.

Britney Britney Britney.. we hardly knew ye

. . . I'm giving you a 4 for the inciteful, well thought out financial commentary and advice you always provide - not the picture of a half-naked strumpet.

artificial scarcity, renewable resource by webwench (4.00 / 1) #6 Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 02:17:49 PM EST
the girl will grow her hair back in, and the very next time she goes on the meth or loses custody of a kid or whatever, she'll shave that lot of hair off too, dumping it on the market and instantly devaluing existing stock.

Britney's hair ain't diamonds, my Nigga. It's more like dandelions. Bleached, addled dandelions.

Getting more attention than you since 1998.

speaking of diamonds by Nigga (2.00 / 0) #8 Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 02:41:06 PM EST
that's an artificial scarcity as well. DeBeers snatched/snatches em up and controls their supply. That's why they're more expensive than colored gems eventhough they're actually far more plentiful.

And that's why I'm lobbying my man for emeralds and rubies this Christmas.

I kid, I kid.

no you don't by Nigga (4.00 / 2) #10 Tue Feb 20, 2007 at 02:49:42 PM EST
don't deny your inner lust for rare rocks. Seems as irrational as denying the existance of your vagina.  Although my bad, for a girl to be rational would be even more absurd.
