Print Story I blame coffee.
Boredom

Today at work I had two cups of coffee because, I don't know, I was cold and I was up early, so I thought, why not? Now it's 4am and I'm awake. Should I blame the coffee? I don't usually drink it, but it seems so convenient in this case.

So right now I'm listening to the Compulsive Gamblers' Crystal Gazing Luck Amazing. Good times.

I want to do my taxes, but I haven't gotten my W2's yet. WTF, mate? Was I supposed to pick them up? I'm too lazy to inquire at work, and I hope that my previous employ sent them to the right address of the four I've had the last year [there are two addresses they could send it to that would work].

So, if one were fleeing to Soviet Canuckistan for a year, how on earth does one do health insurance?

Now on Bluff City.

If only I had something to do so I could at least be productive in my insomnia. I'm not really in the mood for reading.

Speaking of reading, I discovered and read the entire Pokey the Penguin archives last week. YES.

Georgia sounds like a great country to visit sometime. Today talked with a guy [American] who is, among other things, working as a sort of cultural liaison in Georgia for Americans.

two more things by gzt (2.00 / 0) #1 Sat Jan 20, 2007 at 12:53:42 AM EST
  1. wearing long johns is addictive. i was wearing them on a couple of the cold days this week and i then wore them on a not-as-cold day and was like, oh my, this is very nice and toasty.
  2. i forgot the second one. it was key.

I was wishing I had long johns earlier this week by MohammedNiyalSayeed (2.00 / 0) #2 Sat Jan 20, 2007 at 09:37:18 AM EST

I have two pairs, but they're inconveniently located a couple thousand miles away. One of those pairs has a friggin' butt hatch. How awesome is that?

Also, coffee is your friend. You just need to build up some resistance to it.

You can build the most elegant fountain in the world, but eventually a winged rat will be using it as a drinking bowl.

Long johns are awesome by skippy (2.00 / 0) #4 Sat Jan 20, 2007 at 11:21:45 PM EST
When I was up in the frozen north, my lower layer was:  underwear, awesome long johns, fleece sweatpants, and heavily-fleece-lined snowpants.  Plus thin hiking socks with big wool socks over them, and some kickass Sorel boots.

The long johns made a huge difference - I don't remember my legs ever being notably cold (while working outside for 8 hours), even when it was -45 out and -52 with wind chill.
