If I'm never that successful

Ah, I dunno. Never really been totally happy with this cheap 'puter off some eBay store. Admittedly if I turned it off then the chance of it being all over heated and playing up when I got home would be lower.

Dunno if it's 'puter or sound card or XP64 driver or what but if I use a software instrument from teh keyboard, then when it gets lots of notes it seems to break down into crackling - getting worse with number of notes. Doesn't seem to happen so much in playing back MIDI only when I'm playing. Really shows up when I'm doing pianano stuff what with my excessive use of the sustain pedal to compensate for lack of skill. It's very annoying though.

I suppose, given the new Monday deadline I could fix my MFC entry a bit. Or it might give time for Evil Herring to enter if he feels the need.

Really, really need to get a better job (hence the OMWF in the title). In the position where I know what needs to be done but lack any influence as regards getting it done. Still, the attitude seems to be commonplace in many organisations "Experts: What do they know?" (thanks to The Onion for that).
Anyhow this PC has given me tremendous grief over the time I've owned it. Problems:

  • Wont accept the 2GB of RAM I have. Doesn't matter which DIMM or which slot, only works with one.
  • Random overheating(?) problems
  • Only has 2 PCI slots
  • Wont install 64bit Debian
Mind you, I have the feeling about pretty much everything I've ever bought that it doesn't ever work perfectly. The only exception so far is probably the Audi.

I got off track there. I'm sure I had a coherent diary in mind.

There's a girl a work who looks remarkably like Michelle Trachtenberg.

No, gone random again.

Favouritist blog thing for a while here. Whenever I hear the phrase "Great British Public", I think "if only they were".

Girl at work who looks like Michelle Trachtenberg - plspstpixkthxlolwtfbbq.

In the position where I know what needs to be done but lack any influence as regards getting it done.

Now, that sounds familiar. All I can say is what you probably already know - it's not going to change, it's going to irritate you steadily more, and when it all goes tits-up, you, or your team, will get the blame for not fixing it.

Resign. It's very liberating...

But seriously, get the photos.

So I'll take my camera into work and ask this young girl who I hardly know to pose for photos. What are you after? Underwear? Topless? Nude?

Like I'm going to to that after what happened last time.

According to my... internet sources... it's quite a common thing to do and they usually strip all the way and like to laugh at stupid jokes, too.

I appreciate you have an artistic soul, so I'm not going to try and limit you in what you want to do. Just see how it goes.

As I understand it, you need to wait until you are both working late, and she complains of stiff shoulders. Then a sleazy guitar starts playing...

Ambulances by nebbish (2.00 / 0) #5 Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 05:18:17 AM EST
Presumably, in order to get an ambulance called out unecessarily the caller would have to lie about what is wrong with them. If that's the case, they should be fined.

It's political correctness gone mad!

unnecessary ambulances by Merekat (4.00 / 1) #6 Fri Jan 12, 2007 at 06:08:32 AM EST
I had an ambulance called for me once when I fainted in a shop. When I came around after about a minute, I gave the shop hell for wasting ambulance time. The point? Not all those who have ambulances called on their behalf are consulted to inform that it is unncessary and so do not merit a fine.

Besides, if someone died coz the crews were exhausted due to no breaks, that's be a headline too.
