I decided to try remixing something so cam gave me some tracks from SHRMB's alibi...

I like the production aspect of things so I thought I'd try remixing a song.  Cam over at SHMRB gave me the tracks for "alibi" and I gave it a go.

I didn't want to mess with the song structure itself but I felt like it needed more.

First I used SoundForge to isolate various sections of the raw audio so they'd be easier to work with.  Then I used FruityLoops 6 to piece the tracks back together with some new stuff.

The guitar, bass and vocals in the song are still the originals.  I added a bit of equalization to just about everything, enhanced the guitar with some flange and boosted the bass guitar.

Then I upped the beat a little with new drums, and added an FM synth throughout the song that just followed the chord progression.

Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think.

The throaty growling synth is brilliant and the repetitive line at the end is great.

Very enjoyable, I had a good time listening to it.

If I was going to try and be critical, I would suggest to boost the drums and vocals a bit during the main song - they get somewhat overwhelmed by the guitar+synth line (which sounds great, btw).

Overall, very well done!

Yeah, I struggled with getting the levels right.  I had the vocals higher at one point but then they sounded almost too prominent.
