Graves update!!!

Great news.

I finally have health insurance after over 6 1/2 years!!!

but wait - the news gets even better. The doctor believes that the meds are taking care of my Graves - which means I won't have to have surgery or take the irradiated iodine. He won't be certain until the blood work results are back, but he was almost positive.

It's a huge relief.

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Although the doctor told me that I shouldn't start exercising or dieting until he's certain that my thyroid is under control. He went on to lecture me that Graves is a life changing disease - not something like a simple cold.

Soon I'll have my life back. I can't wait to start dancing again.

In keeping with the graves-related banter of the other comments, here is a grave story.

I used to live on a street called "Gravely St" and for some time I called it gravel-y as if the road was originally gravel so that's why it was named that way. But no, it was actually grave-ly, which is a really dumb name for a street. This way to the frigging grave, that's the street I want to live at! Also where I lived there was right across the street from my local supplier of illicit herbs, and above me lived a dominatrix. What a wacky place, Grave-ly street.

Anyhow, rock on with the good newses!

When we did the ghost tour the funeral home there, which dated back to civil war times, had reports of smell hauntings where people would get the over-powering smell of flowers at different times. Another smell haunting was formaldehyde and some kid running up and down the stairs. It is a museum now.

I suspect that persimmon's ankle is A-OK now. Is she considering the less stylish but more practical high-top version of her favorite brand o' shoes? High-tops might prevent ankle sprains in the future.

I had to work this morning, but there was only enough work for 4 hours. Or maybe I'm too fast for that place. But whichever - I'll take 4 hours of overtime over 8 every day!

Glad that the meds are doing their job - and also congrats about the coverage. Yay!

Don't think I posted about what my doc found out, when I was getting some thyroid-ish symptoms. All I really have is a crapload of stress, everything else about me is supposedly fine.

You probably should keep an eye out for future thyroid issues. Don't fret about it, but just have it checked every now and then.
I knew a guy a few years ago that was having thyroid-like symptoms. His doc couldn't find anything either. He was frustrated until he changed his life. New job, new town, new everything. He took up meditation too. No more medical issues.

I got a call from my friend in Jersey tonight. You know, THAT friend.

In a month she's going to get out of the miasma that her life has become and make a clean break for another state. Someplace where she can't fall back into trouble. It sounds like she's really getting her act together for her daughter.
