The B.A.D.TM

Like faux coffee creamer for the soul...

I kinda like some of those old Bob Seger songs and I'm not embarrassed to admit it. Maybe it's the Midwestern boy in me, or maybe it's all tied to the memory of dancing to "We've got Tonight" with that one cute girl at the 7th grade dance. Or maybe it's because his songs deal with simple themes without all the existential crap that so many rock bands like AC/DC dealt in. No sir, give me a straight ahead I-IV-V groove with a catchy melody and some simple lyrics and that's all I need. Well, that and this lamp.

Speaking of music, I've been working on learning Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring the past week and it's coming along swimmingly. It's such a pretty song, well, pretty in a manly1 way of course. Really. I can't believe how much easier the keyboard is compared to the guitar. Not that I can play anything hard, but I can sit down with some easy music and in the space of 30 to 40 minutes be playing something that sounds like the song. On the guitar it took me months just to be able to hack my way through Red River Valley for cripes sake.

Speaking of which, I'm working on Europa by that Santana bloke on my guitar and it's coming along pretty good too. Except for the fast bits, and my bends don't have the sustain he gets, otherwise I'm not unhappy with the way it sounds at all. Yeah, Santana is a one-trick pony but I dig that Latin vibe. Existentially speaking of course.

Right. I've got me an action packed weekend coming up and wouldn't you know it, it's supposed to be hotter'n blazes. Bah. I hate 90's. Give me a day in the mid 70's anytime. But on the plus side when it's in the 90's you don't have to wash up after taking a pee because chlorofilm bacterium can't live in temps over 88 degrees. QED.

The news of the morning is, well, no news. I'll be going to the Sub shop place for a tub of Rigatoni for lunch today, but that's not really news. I'll be having French on the side-salad but that's not news either.

Well alright, enough of that. I need you to take my poll, you see, I've been working on a theory based upon spending time with strangers in elevators for years and years and I want to see if my theory is generally accepted to be the truth. Of course if you're an idiot I'm going to have to ask you not to vote. Thanks!

Best. Song. EVAR. If this "keyboard" is electronic, put it on pipe organ. Yes.

If you play Beethoven's Ninth and watch A Clockwork Orange with the sound turned down, the actions coincide with the music.

Not the way I play by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #7 Fri Jul 14, 2006 at 06:53:45 AM EST
But that's a moot point as A Clockwork Orange is one of them subversive movies that my church won't allow me to watch.

Warmest regards,

Yep, eeelectronic, I'm too cheap to buy a real one by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #5 Fri Jul 14, 2006 at 06:48:28 AM EST
I'll have to give that a try.

I was playing it with tonnes of chorus and thought it sounded really good (in a tasteless sort of way) but didn't think to try the pipe-organ option.

Warmest regards,
--Your best pal Bob

I have no idea. As an unattractive fat nerd I can state with confidence that neither group talks to me strangers.

elevators by sasquatchan (2.00 / 0) #4 Fri Jul 14, 2006 at 06:44:07 AM EST
bob, the only thing to remember about elevators is don't fart until the doors are about to open for your floor.

And recall, chlorofilm is what you use to knock out your roomate before assaulting him.

I make it a rule to never pass gas in an elevator. It's just too darn risky.

It's been very moderate by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #15 Fri Jul 14, 2006 at 09:53:15 AM EST
This has actually been one of the cooler summers in a while. We've been in the mid to upper 70's most of the time, with just a handful of days in the 80's. That's why I'm not looking forward to the 90's. No more afternoons hanging out at the park, that's just a bit too warm.

Warmest regards,
--Your best pal Bob

I told you it makes no sense by Bob Abooey (2.00 / 0) #24 Mon Jul 17, 2006 at 08:21:07 AM EST
I'm thinking they came up with the terminology back when there were only 20 or so states, before we massacred the Western Indians and liberated stole all the land from the them.
