Well, just one.

One of our cats, Sasha, has discovered the microwave. When she hears the alarm, she materializes, jumps up on the radiator cover next to the oven, and tries to crawl inside to get a piece of whatever we're thawing or heating up.

You might think it would save energy or time or something if she just materialized inside the oven, but I'm not a cat, so I don't know about that.

"Birdses?" says that look in her eyes. "Please?"

"It's just coffee, Sasha. You don't like coffee."

"Oh." She jumps down and dematerializes.

~

Tuesday morning, having earlier disposed of a dead chickadee I'd found on the kitchen floor, I caught Sasha, with a live robin in her teeth, slinking through the kitchen, bound for the microwave.

Now the cat need only master the can opener, and she can safely kill you in your sleep.

Your Cat Is A Bad-Ass by Gedvondur (4.00 / 2) #3 Thu Jun 29, 2006 at 03:19:11 PM EST
It's actually pretty hard for a cat to catch a bird like a robin.

That little story cracked me up.

Better watch out or she will try and join the Hell's Angels.

Especially so, by ana (4.00 / 2) #4 Thu Jun 29, 2006 at 03:27:24 PM EST
given that, due to an unfortunate encounter with a car earlier in life, she's missing one hip joint.

Once toxicfur discovered that she'd brought a robin into the enclosed front porch area (where the cat door is; we leave one of the screens open far enough for the cats to get in and out). The bird had escaped from the cat, for the moment. So toxicfur went out to try to shoo the bird out the door. Sasha was right there, eyes on the prize.

She jumped six feet up into the air, caught the bird in her teeth, and came down neatly with all 4 feet on the windowsill. A breathtaking acrobatic act if ever there was one.

mamacat is known for taking birds out of the air, and one of our older ones took down a full grown rabbit AND dragged it home to feed her kittens.
