he's an interesting fellow, he knows everything there is to know about history. got second in some like international history olympiad or something like that. so what i do is throw obscure names at him to see if he'll have something interesting to say about them [he has an amusing way of talking aobut things], but most of my interesting names come from russian hagiographical material and russian history is his forte so i'm never disappointed. anyways so like a while back this girl with a classical music radio show on the university's station was talking to him like, "man, you should just come on some day and just talk for a while about random musical history," and he was like, "what on earth could i talk about?" and i was like, "man, you could talk about cantemir," and he went off for 5 minutes about marrying cantacuzene and trubetska and turkish music. and everybody else was like wtf?
